A123 Charger

Hi All.

I used to be a member on this site years and years ago (richohealey) but can't find my login details.

Recently, my hobbies have shifted in the direction of motor racing. I'm looking to build an A123 based battery back for my racebike, but I'm finding some conflicting information about how I can charge them.

In the first instance I want a pack onboard the bike, attached to the loom via a giant diode so that it can discharge but not charge during the race, I will charge the battery externally in the pits between races. I have some misc gear laying around from modelling days but not a great deal.

What's the easiest "Plug and Play" solutions for charging these things? I am reasonably handy with electronics, but a lot of what I've read has sailed right over my head.

Thanks in advance.

RE: A123 Charger

4 in series, to get a nominal voltage of around 14.4v which is enough to start the bike.
