Default One way to improve your MCPX

I have been spending a lot of time tweaking my MCPX.

I really like this heli and it has allowed me to finally hover inverted below head height - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR1c7KKVCYE

Anyway, one drawback was that at maximum and minimum collective settings the tail would often blow out..

This was due to the high blade angle creating rotor drag and the tail not being able to keep up..

I worked around this by limiting max and minimum pitch in my computer radio settings.

Tonight on my DX8 I realised it has a "Tail Curve" function.. that will make adjustments to the tail rotor output when max or min collective is applied..

It WORKSGREAT!... It has completely corrected the tail blow out for me.. and I have been able to increase my maximum pitch as a result and am now able to fly more aggressive pitch pumps without getting the tail blow out..

I know this is probably basic stuff for 3D heli gurus, but if you are just learning on the MCPX like me.. I hope it will help..

Here is a video..

I have just tested the MCPX outdoors with the new tail curve settings..

It is significantly better...

I will post another video shortly..

For anyone with a DX6i, I beleive you can also make this adjustment using the "REVO Mix" function...

I don't think revo mix on the dx6i is the same thing as Tail Curve on the dx8. Revo mix is only for rate gyros and not heading hold. If I give it anything more than 0 rm the heli spins right but still blows out the tail when I pump the throttle.

I reduced the pitch to 70% in swash menu and have a slightly longer solid CF rod tail boom. The crappy #7 camera can't deal with the change in back lighting.

What kind of numbers did you end up with on the tail curve?

Lou
