Got my mSRx a few days ago. Ialso have an mSR, SR120 and mCPx. I fly all with a DX6i and used the same programming for the mSRx that I had for the mSR.

I bought this heli because I am pretty comfortable with the mSR and SR120 but am struggeling quite a bit with the mCPx (and I have dumbed this thing down as much as possibe). My expectation was a heli that would behave more like the mCPx but not as aggressive and more forgiving when crashed.

I must say that my expectations are fully met. I can fly this little heli around my basement and so far nothing has broken even after some crashes into the walls. It can get away from me a bit but I have been much more successful in recovering than wiht the mCPx. It will make a great trainer so I can eventually get back to the mCPx.

http://store.batteryspecialists.com/tp1601spl25um.html

free shipping for all internet orders, 8.99 each, and INSTOCK!...lol ( I highly recommend these guys for all your battery needs!)

Anyways, after getting these batteries, it flies much better, getting about 5 mins flight time, and these lipo's can be fast-charged at .8 amps (5C) takes 12 mins.
Thanks,

Matt
Thanks Matt for the great information! What charger do you use for these little lipo's?

Hey Ken, here is my unique charging adapters...lol...The other little lipos are turnigys:

The micro adapter can do 6 at once..but should be same batteries and similar charge level.

This was a msr x

Well when you move the left stick to the right and it is off or full speed on and no inbetween then THERE is a problem and when the right servo moves up with the stick and not come down to the neutral position then THERE is another problem. This heli is NON FLYABLE. I don't care what your tech dept. says! You guys have lost my business. You suckered me on this one, NOT AGAIN.
This is what I sent Horizon after they refused to repair or replace my MSR X. Is came from them in this condition and was sent back once only to get it back in the same condition. Talk about no service. The last e-mail I got stated that they can't replace my unflyable heli. Not AGAIN. They won't have the chance.

I bought a MSRX BNF. I was getting bored with my MCX 2 The LHS didn't have any new batteries, so I tried to fly it with on of the 12C batteries from the MCX 2. When I try to launch and hover, it instantly flies sideways and slams into whatever is in it's path. I ordered 2 new batteries from battery spcialist, but they said they won't ship for a few weeks. I'm using the stock transmitter from my MCX 2. I reset it by removing the batteries and was able to bind it. I'm guessing that will reset the trims???

Question for successful fliers - Do you think the 25C battery will make this thing fly and hover correctly? Can you hover with 12C batteries? I'm thinking it may be defective and Imay take it back.

glastronjohn,

The mSRX is a completely different animal from the MCX 2. Be sure to have TX trims set to 0 and re-bind. Make sure that when you are spooling up there is no input on aileron, you can apply some aileron just before takeoff to keep it from going to left.

I learned to fly with single rotor 45deg flybarred helis. The mSR X is nowhere near as stable nor will it go into a hover just by releasing the sticks, it needs to be flown!

All that being said; the mSRX is an awesome heli, it just takes some practice and a lot of patience. I've had mine for 1 1/2 weeks and can fly it around my office (about 12X12) without crashing too often. I love it!!

Thanks Ken. I'm sure a lot of it is my inexperience. Did you try yours with 12C batteries? I'm wondering if they have enough punch to get it off the ground quick enough so that I can stabilize it. Right now it just goes left a few inches off of the ground until it slams into whatever is in the way.

When Ifirst got mine, I was using a less powerful battery, and charging it on my turnigy charger, it was slightly underpowered, but still did fly like it was supposed to. I was only getting about 2-3 mins flight time. After I got my 25c 160mah TP lipos, it came to life!...lots of power, and 5 min flight times. The only issue that I have had so far, is one of the ball links on the blade grips broke during flight last sunday at the indoor flying in the gym. I have put 100 flights on this heli so far, easily with no other issues.

As far as the wandering issue...are your batteries fully charged?...What charger are you using?...Is the pack getting hot after you fly it?... A 12c pack should do the job just fine.

When you take off this heli, you need to just pop it up to chest level before you go banging the sticks...lol .. the gyro inside is sensitive, so if you feed any input in to it on the floor, it will wander...it is like any other FBL heli as far as that goes.

Matt,
I'm using the base charger that I got in the MCX 2 RTR. I wait 20 seconds between red flashes. Batteries are not hot. I need to find an adapter for my big charger.

I can see what both you and Ken are talking about now. I took the heli outside yesterday and had several successful flights around the yard. I just needed more room. I only got 2-3 minutes flight time also with the 150 mah 12C batteries. I need to find better batteries. My order from batteryspecialist is back ordered and my LHS has been out going on 3 months. Seems everywhere I look, they're sold out.

This little heli is fast and I have a lot to learn, which is the fun part of most things. I found that I needed to push it forward and right just a bit to get it to stabilize at take off.

Thanks for the replies.
Johnny
