Default brushless 400 on a BCP Pro?

I wanna do this so that it has more power, I want it to be able to still fly agressive 3-d with super skids on and a larger battery, say 1200maH. I also think that it would look pretty cool because the engine would be protruding through the canopy and it would make it look muscular. Please tell me if u think that this would work good because i have to order the motor tomorrow.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes i do. In my opinion, the best motor you could get for 3d would be the 400DH from justgofly.

Default RE: brushless 400 on a BCP Pro?

I actually have the 370 brushless coming Thursday. I had a 400 here and my hobby shop guy said he wouldnt recommend using it. The power draw might blow the 3 in 1. Honestly I think the 400 is a waste in that machine. The 370 will have unbelievable power in that thing.
I use all brushless in my planes and theyre all Eflite brand. The 370 will easily fly a 24 ounce plane. I dont know what the weight is of a CP offhand but I know the 370 is MORE than enough.

Even Horizon Hobby only recommends the 370.3700 KV I think. Of course its up to you but you should do a quick check at Horizonhobby.com

But do u think that the e-flite brushless inrunner 400 will work pretty good with the Blade Cp Pro. how long have u had this motor in ur bcp, and u dont think that itll fry the 3-in-1.

My brushless for my CP isnt coming till Thursday and right now its still Brushed. The 400 will perform amazingly in the Pro.Its a real awesome motor. Theres no doubt at all that youre going to have a surplus of power. I just wouldnt put it in my own heli because I dont know what effect it would have on the 3 in 1.
I just know that the brushless 370 would be plenty of bang. Just look at what the brushed 370 can do.

I think that as long as you have a good ESC/BEC combo, you will be fine. The reccommended ESC for the 400DH is the castle creations 25A, but it would work with any 400 motor.

I imagine youre right. Youre gonna see that your flight times will be a little longer with the 400 brushless. Same as the 370.I absolutely love the brushless motors. They sound better, perform better, they have a more direct power that reacts quicker to input and acceleration and torque is smoother. After you use them you know real fast why theyre so much more expensive.
Your ESC will work fine as well. The only reason I chose to stay with the Eflite brand ESC is because I wanted to keep everything on the heli Horizon brand.Pretty dumb reason really. I use all kinds of different setups on my planes but Im anal with my heli.
Another real awesome ESC Ive had amazing luck with is the Thunderbird 18A. I believe Castle makes it as well.

Just in case you forgot to get a pinion, do so. The pinions that come with your brushless arent the ones used on the CP. Its real important to get the right pinion. If its wrong and doesnt match your gear right youll tear your main gear apart with the power of that 400.

Heres the part number for that pinion Horizon Hobby EFLM1949
Its an 8 tooth .5 pitch 2mm ID

The ESC that ill be using is the 20A thats recommended for the 400 motor by e-flite. Im using all e-flite products on this including the 8 tooth pinion, the Y harness, and all that other good stuff. Im new to Electric but I like what ive seen so far. Do u think that id be safer with a 25A ESC? And as long as im using the 400 and 20A ESC i shouldnt blow up the 3-in-1, right?

Wish I could help you there. Im really stupid when it comes to these 3 in1 and 4 in 1 units.
I have the CP but Thursday my parts are coming. Im switching to the 3 in 1,RX brushless 370 and 20 amp Eflite esc.
I CAN say though that the 20 ESC is way more than safe. I believe the 400 only draws about 14 amps and your ESC is a 20. The general rule is get an ESC thats a quarter higher rating than what the motor puts out so youre safe for sure. But a higher rated ESC would be even a little more protection if you felt uneasy about the 20amp.

Like I said, the only reason I wont use a 400 brushless is because of my lack of kowledge on these 4in1 and 3in1 units. The setup is the one recommended on Horizons site so thats why Im staying with the 370.

if ive missed something then please ignore...
but how can you blow the 3in1 when your using a separate esc?
you might blow the esc - but the 3in1 is only supplying the signal to esc
so there is no power being drawn from the 3in1?

Like I said,Im very stupid when it comes to the 3in 1 and 4 in 1 units. Im just over cautious when it comes to them. Nothing sucks worse than blowing one of those and having to wait on parts if theyre not in stock.
Id rather just stay to the recommended setup with the 3 in 1 because of my lack of knowledge on them

The brushless motor will not fry your 3-in-1 since it will be using its own esc. Before going completely seperate, I ran the E-Flite 370 4100kv on mine with the E-Flite 20amp esc and had no issues.

But do u think that the e-flite brushless inrunner 400 will work pretty good with the Blade Cp Pro. how long have u had this motor in ur bcp, and u dont think that itll fry the 3-in-1.

Alex K,

To post a picture is pretty easy, you just have to remember where you stored in on you computer. Folder and file name.

Just click on the post reply as normal, input your text. Like, "He look what I got",.

At the bottom of this window, you'll see in blue/underlined, "Click here to upload images and files!" Click on that, it will bring up another window for you to select your folder and file. Just follow the instructions from there. Once you get a confirmation that your picture has been uploaded. Close that window, and then press the OK button as normal to send your post.
