I like the way You cut the vents; looks real good.

Nice paint scheme, too. I've got that color coming as well.

I use a hobby knife as I call it. Super small exacto knife with a small square blade. Almost like a scalpel.

yeah I used tiny exaxto knife and mini file to shape the vents.
I used a water drip line stake to make the landing skies.
Filled the tail with expanding foam and cut out the excess with a long carving knife (crash after crash the tail has never broke since).
Chopped the top of the canopy and dremeled out air vents at the bottom.
Used a can of model hobby paint for the painjob.
Still have never spent a single $ for repairs, and it is stronger then ever (heavier, but this is my frist heli ever and I need it strong)

Good idea to fill the stock fuse with foam! I have a couple of old fuses around that I just might try that with.

IF I can tear myself away from my TREX, that is!

I've also widen the blades using packaging tape.
It makes take off's and throttling up faster about (10-20% more).
I'm about 3 clicks lower on my throttle controler to hold a hover.
Seems to make the flybar more responsive.
I see less arch on the tip/end of the blades during flight.
Also creates a slight (chopper) like sound.

Please note that they have to be almost perfect in measurements, weight and placement.
I used a ruler and a penciel to make locations.

Eat2,
If you get the extreme blades you'll get that extra pitch for the entire length of the blade and you'll likely never break a blade again. Here's my setup: Extreme sport kit, Extreme motors, RCRive's Extreme Core (extended upper head, shafts, gears & grips) with the Extreme blades.

Sweet looking heli. I'll look into getting some extreme blades down the road, but for now I can't be spending the extra cash. Have to do things the cheap way.

Nice with the flat black. Looks bad! Where are the skids for that? What did you make the guns out of?

guns are carbon tube.
Best skid upgrade in the world is "no skids".
Looks and feels better in the air without out skids and really who needs skids anyway on such a simple to fly heli.

no skids? ouch said the lipo

the heaviest / thickest /strongest body i have found so far for the cx is the "marines" brown body - twice as strong / hard as the red stock body - not too much extra weight for the stiffness

eflite sells, well backorders, a bell jet ranger body now - check the eflite blade cx2 website

Edge,

Can you get a link to it? I've looked on both horizon hobby and the eflite site and don't see it. Can't see the forest for the trees

eat2muchrice,

Have You noticed a quieter heli since the foam? Is it much heavier; probably not since it is 95% or so, air. It certainly looks stronger.

Thanks,
Gary

xxx Thanks. It's really just two helis. One is my dad's (stock blades). Mine is the other.
PO1rouge looks good. I was just saying how I wanted to do the stock body flat black. It would match my car. Nice work.

Goldslinger,

No, it make no difference to its sound. As for the extra weight I had to adjust my forward trim up 4 clicks to compensate the weight in back. I haven't even noticed a flight time loss. Overall I feel that it is worth the weight. I've broken every inch of my heli but after the foam the tail has never even cracked. I've been only flying for about 2-3 weeks so you can imagine how much I crash.
Just make sure you cut out as much extra foam as possible. I used a long fillet knife to reach all the way down.
I used "Great Stuff" window and door insulating foam sealant from home depot.
If you know something better or lighter let me know.

I liked how easy it is to see yellow in the sky so I thought I would paint the Xtreme boom and skid set yellow. I have the Xtreme motors and waiting for the blade grips. I also have E-flight swashplate, lower rotor head, upper bearing holder, and motor heat sink. I still need to put a few more coats of paint on the canopy.

The majority of my canopy turned out well. I had a few leaks in the tape for the window area so I don't know what I will do with that. But yea I will put some more pictures up tomarrow when the paint fully dries.
