Default CX2 aluminum outer shaft bearing holder

I just replaced the stock plastic one with aluminum. Man was this thing difficult to seat onto the outer shaft. Is this typical?

Yes, that''s typical. YOu could also use a fine sandpaper to get it in there a little easier.

I have no proof to back this up, but I think that E-Flite increased the thickness of their outshaft slightly in recent months and this is making the aluminum upper bearing cap hard to seat properly. I got into the CX2 right around the time that they came out with their "version 2" and back then (~ July 2007), the aluminum caps slid quite easily on to the outer shaft. Now, as Crusader said, you have to use either sandpaper to this the outer shaft or use brute force to get the cap to fit. I wish they would fix this...

Ya I had to sand mine to get it to fit. Just plugged up a pack and ran it about 1/2 thrott holding 300 grit wet/dry (gray) paper to it. worked like a charm.

I twisted mine on, but, I don''t think that it is fully seated. How should I remove it without bending or damaging the outer shaft?

Can''t really think of any other way other than pulling Try putting the outer into a vice with some padding so you don''t damage it. Don''t make it too tight as to collapse the tube just enough to hold it.

. . . and if the bearing doesn''t fit snugly into the bearing holder; be sure to use med. lock-tite to keep it from spinning inside the cup.
