Default NEW 130mah Lipo Battery for Micro MCX!

Does anyone have one of these batteries yet?
If so I have two questions.

First, how long does the extra 20mah provide in run
time over the stock 110mah battery?
Can you get at least 10 minutes out of it?

Second, IN the picture, What is the white tab
on the end of the Lipo? Is it some sort of handle
or something to grab onto aiding in removal
of the battery? If so, this is a neat idea!
Sometimes gripping the stock battery while trying
to remove from the charger or copter is tough.

I got one and use it.

The little white thing is only a tag. I cut it off trying to fit the battery into the holder on the mCX.

The battery is a little fatter than the stock, and it is quite difficult to get into the holder. Its a hassle and each time I'm afraid to break something.

Maybe if I used a stopwatch I could measure a difference in flight time, but it is minor if any. The battery is heavier, so the motors must work harder to lift the heli. You can hear the difference as it flies the blades are beating faster to keep it in hover. This burns more milliamps. So you end up with the same time, and you are working the motors more so they won't last as long. I still use my 130ma packs that I bought, but if I need more battery, I'll just by 110s.

SgtSterling, thanks for the reply. This is a very interesting observation.
It does make sense that the slightly heavier and larger battery would make
the copter work harder thus actually making flight times the same as the
stock 110mah battery. I think for now I will stick with the stock battery
Another downfall also to the 130mah lipo would be it takes longer to charge
on the provided dc charger due to increased milli amps.

I've got two these batteries. I cut off the tab also. It is probably a difference in the molding of the plastic but I've had no problems putting the batteries into the battery holder. My initial impression was that the chopper actually seemed to be a bit more lively, not a whole hell of a lot but it was there as I then flew an Eflite battery after it. I didn't notice the aircraft requiring more throttle to keep it in the air, weight differences between the two batteries is really small, 3.3g for the Eflite and 3.4g for the Tenergy. I never timed the difference between the batteries but it would really depend on how the chopper is flown to gauge if there is any significant difference. There is probably some but not all that much to shout home about.

Thanks GBR2 .... everyone has a different opinion on this new battery.
You would think that the new 130mah would give you a couple more min
flight time. I guess for the same price as the stock lipo, i'll go ahead and
give one a whirl. I agree, the pull tab is not a necessity and I would cut
it off as well.

I've been using 2 of the 130's and 1 of the 110mah and I've been timing them. My 110 is from Christmas so it's been used/charged at least 200 times, I fly many times a day since I "work" at home. Don't tell my boss. Anyway the 130's are about 2 weeks old now and still give 9+ minutes until lvc. The 110 was down to 5 min's, but then I soldered the connector like someone said to and now it gets 6+ mins. The 110 gave me 7+ minutes for most of January before it started to deteriorate.

Charging has made a real difference in all the batteries. I was charging using fresh NiMH each charge for the first couple of weeks and the 110 kept getting worse. Then I changed to alkelines for the extra volts and the 110 started getting better. So then I used a 6v wall wart plus 3 nimh's so the charge is 6v and the chg indicator led would function, but would not cause any interference with the 6v charging.

Then I bought the connector and now use my 5amp 6cell lipo balencing charger set to .5a 1cell and it tells me how many mah it put in. The most the 110 put in was 99mah and currently it puts in low 90's. The 130's originally put in 115mah each and now in the high 90's. I fly often and I fly until lvc every battery. I tried higher chg rates up to 2amps and the charger puts in less mah's, but the battery never even gets warm at 2amps, but flight times are 1-2mins less. So I've settled on .5a for charging. However, with 3 batteries and charging at .8amps I can fly continuously as the charge time drops a lot too.

Mike
