Do the screws that hold the tail blade grips to the tail rotor hub need to be real tight like the ones on the main blade grips? Every time I tighten them all the way the grips bind & won't move.

I was afraid of this! It was fine before I took it apart! LOL

Well that is better, Which RX dose it come with as the Spektrum AR6200 runs around $75.
If that is the RX supplied then the price is within reason.
I have a ton of Esky parts. Need to crash a lot to change heli brands.
I am looking at converting the Rotor head to the Belt CPX version, the only differance it the rotor hub and upper control links.
Which changes it to a blades ove flybar head.
About $10 in parts.

A lot of the spare parts listed for the new one says "B400, B450".

AR6115e 6-Channel DSMX Microlite Receiver: End Pin
SpektrumSPMAR6115E
In Stock
Price: $49.99

Let me know if you dump the ESky FP head parts. I could use them on my Guru.

Chuck, Yes the motors are counter rotating. Ones prop is a pusher the other is not.

Chuck,

Tighten them, then back off until the grips turn freely.  Make sure you use some loctite on the screws (unless the hub is plastic, in which case, use CA).  This is a case where you let the threadlocker or CA do the work.

Okay, so nobody got the second engineering point...

It's the cyclic servos. All the installations I've seen have the aileron and pitch servo in front of the main shaft and the elevator to the rear... or at the very least, the ball links are in the front/rear, respectively. Well, in the Furion 6, the pitch and aileron servos are behind the main shaft and the elevator servo is at the front of the main shaft. The only advantage I can see to this is CG. Note that the motor is to the rear of the shaft, as well. In my mind it's there to compensate for the weight of the front mounted batteries. Gonna be interesting to see how CG works out on this helicopter.

I've been researching batteries and it seems the more you pay the lighter the battery. Literally don't know what to do with this. I know a few people are using Zippy 4000 mah batteries. I may get Blues. I dunno. Literally.

Scott
My 3DX450 had the elevator servo link up front so I don't think it's really that unusual............now the tail is different!!

Bill

Then that makes two where I've never seen the servo arrangement as it is. No biggie.

Yeah, the tail output shaft being on the left is really different for me, too. I still don't know the advantages, if any.

Head build of the Furion. I ran into a couple of problems that were addressed immediately by Miniature Aircraft USA.

1. The EClips for the swash follower links were missing.
2. One of the swash follower arms was a little tight.

I spoke to Brian yesterday about eclips... they're in the mail, now. I spoke to Jeff about the tightness of the follower arm. He explained I wasn't the first to mention it. He said it will work out after a few flights. Problem is with the spacer between the bearings. He also said the tightness won't cause a problem and offered tosend me another one. Now, that's whatacompany should do! Full speed ahead!!!

CONGRATS CHUCK!!!!!!

Got up in the low 40s today so I dipped out of work an hour early and got a little flying in.

Maidened the FunJet. Got it trimmed out and flying nicely. This plane has more power and speed than anything else I have. Alex tired to get it on video but I was flying too high and too fast for that. I only got one flight in due to a small mishap. I was trying to get a handle on landing it and took three approaches to get it slowed down where I thought I had enough room to land.... well, I didn't and put it into a chain link fence at a pretty good clip. It left some dents but it will fly just fine again. The impact shot the battery forward which pulled the ESC forward which disconnected all the motor bullets which are inaccessible inside the fuse. I needed to drill an access hole in the firewall to get access to connect the motor back up.

Got several flights in the Sonic Blue F-22. The last time outdoors it developed a flutter in a dive which cracked the wing supports and made it too floppy to fly. I repaired the plane and reinforced the areas where it cracked with strapping tape and this time around, I got several batteries in with no issues. This plane is also quite fast and a blast to fly outdoors. I could make it disappear vertically in a big hurry. Really liking this plane now that I can stretch its legs.

As the sun was setting, I got several flights in with the Nite KESL. I am really liking flying at night. I am planning to build something a bit bigger and better lit some time soon.

Here's the next couple of steps. I forgot to take a pic with the tail ass'y in pieces.

I also PM'd the EXI450 getting ready for the new season. Most of the screws were a little loose but not too bad. What I am worried about is the amount of the main blade movement up & down. I guess it's time to rebuild the blade grips. That's for another day.

Ivan,

You can really fly! Great job, sir. Sweet plane. When Alex (?) said, "UFO" Iwas thinking the same thing... Iwonder how many people saw it from a distance and didn't know what it was?

Chuck,

Looking cool as all get out!! So what if you missed pictures, so did I! It's all good. I bet you can't wait to get it in the air! And...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! I knew you could pass that pesky drug test!!!

More build pics until I get electronics... Very cool head. In one picture you can see how there is absolutely no phasing. Amazing. Also different are the spacers in the tail grips. I've put TWEE's on it and will fly with them. The stock tail blades are black and I've discovered Ilike bright blades! Also, notice the ball bearing pitch arms on the tail. They're theupgrade part I ordered because the stock ones were too tight. Other than that... Ihaven't drilled/reamed the canopy yet... not a nipple to be found on it. Damn! That makes two Canomods without nipples. No fun there, but if I figured it out once, I can do it again.

Scott - that is really one nicely engineered machine. The head is pretty simple w/o the FB. That tail ass'y is really nice looking & super simple. Actually, I'm in no hurry to fly the new one as it is my reward for learning nose in which, of course, I haven't yet! LOL

Speaking of which since I decided to quite abusing the Guru & vac I haven't flown anything... I better get back on the stick. (pun intended)

I bought Phoenix as a reward to myself for the new job. Of course, my computer won't run it for more than a minute or so. I have to call them & see "wat up" as it meets the min specs.

Chuck,

Thanks! Yeah, the head was pretty simple. Idid have a little trouble with bearing fit, but an 11mm socket and my C Clamp fixed that. Ialso used green loctite on all the bearings, so that's cool. The dampers are HARD.It was difficult to get the spindle (which is is really thick) through them. The manual said to not use oil or grease so Ididn't . Also, the bolt that secures the grips to the spindle are 4mm. No nut driver. I had to use allen wrenches. Fun stuff!

Hey I've only flown nose in for a couple of seconds. I'm getting closer.

Sorry about Phoenix, bro. They're really good and I'm sure they'll get back to you.

Ron,

Actually, the bolts screw into the opposite side of the head block. They provide clamping. One on each side. Again, there are noJesus bolts. They have a steel dowel that you insert through the main shaft, then put a set screw behind it and tighten it up. While I'm at it... the FBLhead "manual sheet" is a fun thing.

Believe me, I will cry. LOL!
