We got a little break temperature wise as there were storms through the area, but... Humidity.  I flew my mCPX in the back yard yesterday and was soaked after five packs.  I'm talking dripping.

I need to check out the setup on my mCPX because I had to raise pitch endpoints in order to have sufficient positive pitch.  So, that usually means lengthening links.

Today it's supposed to be in the 100's here, again.  Ivan, I know the feeling, bro.    You and Chuck stay cool!

The heat has broken!!!! After being 104 earlier in the day (according to my nerdy weather station), it's now in the low 80's. Windy as hell, but better!

Chuck, I'm sorry. Imissed your basement flooding. I hope, like Ivan, that nothing was damaged.

Ah yes... heat has broken. Had the sliding doors open all night but still had to run the AC in the bedroom. It is beautiful out this morning though.

Is it windy there, Ivan? Beautiful outside but 20mph winds.... I'll take it!

Weather is cooler than it has been. Pretty windy today though. Spent the day changing the setup on my Slash for the track at work. Should make for a much better handling truck. It was pushing in the corners and now it rotates better and I can power through them. Can't wait to test it out on the track tomorrow. Maybe I will head in to work early to give it a run.

Have fun with the car...

Yesterday, I stripped my Furion6 and I'm going to sell it.

Fortunately, my truck racing neighbor let me borrow his generator before anything IMPORTANT got damaged. Ran the ejector pump & both sumps for a couple of hours. Not much rain w/ storm.

Wow, it was almost chilly yesterday! I clocked gusts at over 16 MPH on the deck though, I imagine higher in the open areas.

Why are you getting rid of the Furion Scott?

Chuck, RC buddies are the best huh? Glad you got through somewhat unscathed.

Ivan,

I'm not flying it. It's sitting gathering dust. I'm selling the whole thing (batteries, blades, mini Vbar, spares, too) minus servos and ESC. There's nothing wrong with it, but I just have too many other helicopters to fly.

Chuck,

It's good you got to use a gen for that. I keep an inverter on-hand so I can run our sump pump... I just run an extension chord from the garage to the sump. It works, but Ihate running my car so much for that. I kick myself everytime I think about my wife offering to buy me a generator for father's day last year!

I really hate gas equipment - dirty, smelly, maintenance intense, take up a lot of room, cantakerous, etc. Hence nothing but electric R/C stuff! LOL But I'm ready for the next storm assuming I'm home to start it! And it starts! And I have gas! And ... Next house is going to have a natural gas full house generator!

Ivan - they are the BEST! Now that I have all the time in the world, I'm going to take you up on your offer one lunch. I'll call 1st JIC

Scott - having more helis than can fit in a room, never stopped certain other people on this forum. LOL I know what you mean. I decided to keep my number to the ones I use. It doesn't get used it's gone.

Understandable Scott. Selling the Mini V Bar too huh? Would you consider selling that separately? I have always wanted to try one out. Are you going for continuity and running a Beast on your next FBL heli?

Chuck, we are having a BLAST at work with the new track. You really should come out and check it out. The track is small but challenging. It is probably good for four 1:10 scale trucks at a time but we had seven on it yesterday including a 1:10th monster truck. There was lots of crashing, spin outs and people getting landed on. Bring a beater canopy if you got one.. lol.

I have not flown in a while. Too busy with work, life, the garden and the RC trucks. Most of the RC flight stuff is in storage anyway.

The alignment on the Slash made a very big difference. It handles really well now. Looking forward to getting in the rest of the stuff I ordered for it. New tires, springs, shock and diff oil and batteries. I have one more tweak for the suspension too. It is already probably the quickest truck on the track... hopefully this puts it out ahead even further.

Ivan,

I think it's best to see if I can sell the entire bundle before.  But... if the only way I can sell things is by breaking up the bundle, I'll keep the mini vBar for you, that way you can say, "Vstabi" and know.   Regarding standardization... yep, for the time being.  However, I will be getting a Spartan Vortex VX1 the day it is released and perhaps an MSH Brain to try out on new builds as there are two, possibly three new builds down the road.

Any of you boys seen a helicopter around here ?? ! Wow, I haven't posted since 12/10/2010 and I have to say time sure goes quick ! Haven't done anything RC for a few years now, but just happened to click on the forum here as I saw it on my bookmarks and it flooded me with great memories One thing I have got to say is that it sure is nice seeing familiar "faces" as I scroll though the back pages of this thread. So great to see most everyone still here and going strong and helping each other out... You guys are an amazing group of guys, and I hope maybe in the near future I can get back into the hobby and hope you all can teach me to fly again and get me up to date with the technology that has surpassed me. Lol Anyway, just wanted to say hi and hope all is well with everyone... Dave & Eddie are on my Facebook and so I keep in touch with them on a regular basis and know they are still kickin' it and doing well Take care all....

Jeff,

I was just thinking about you Tuesday and now this?  I'm gonna think about lottery tickets, numbers, and riches next!  It's great to see that YOU are still around and kicking it.

What I was thinking about the other day was you doing autos on your 450... Then you flying in the front yard avoiding trees.  Great memories, Jeff.  Come back and play soon!  You are missed.

Ivan - if you need a heli fix, I have the new 450 just sitting here gathering dust w/ the 6i. You'd be welcome to borrow it!

Hi jeff!

Tried to fly this evening since it's been a couple of weeks since last flight. Went out in front for a quicky. Got about 2 minutes into it when the "truck" neighbor stopped by. As soon as he left the 6 grandkids next door showed up.

Yeah... I got a hair cut, oil change, and worked some on my 7HV. I need to get off my ass and get cracking on the F6 sale. But... I'm streaming 3DMasters.

http://new.livestream.com/accounts/978117/3dmasters

the quality is really good but the weather in Venlo sucks sooo bad.

Lightning struck a pole right outside our building today. Blew out the box on the ground next to the pole and set the grass on fire. Knocked a line off the pole too. We put out the fire and had the live wire coned off before the fire department got there. Happened at about 4 so we ended up getting out of work early.

Default RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Got bored running the RC cars / trucks in the street at work so we decided to build an off road course out back. The area we used is pretty small at 40' x 40' but I think we made decent use of it. After drawing out the course, we transferred the drawing to a paint outline on the ground and ran the cars around to see how it would be. With the grass, it was very tough for the trucks to keep moving and we had to avoid four stumps from trees that had been removed. We called and had the area checked for gas lines, electric and phone and found it was strewn about everywhere. We had a stumper come out and take care of the four stumps for us. This left us with a pretty blank slate. I spent a few hours mowing the grass down in that area one height setting at a time till the mower was actually dragging on the ground most of the time. This increased the speed of the trucks but it still just was not all that fun. We picked up some 4" corrugated tubing to use as a barrier to outline the course. This got knocked around quite a bit and the course was constantly changing shape. We knew we needed to stake the tubing down some how. We tried many things but ended up using re-bar scraps from the concrete place next door. We drilled a hole in the tube and then pounded the re-bar through the hole into the ground. Seeing as we could not really dig down, we decided to build up. We had 14 yards of dirt delivered and started to work with shovels and a wheelbarrow. This was proving to be very hard work. I called my uncle up and he was kind enough to drop off one of his Bobcats. I spent a morning learning how to work a skid loader and moving dirt around. I got the track shaped roughly and then started working with shovels and rakes. Lance and I put in one jump at the start / finish line to begin with and we started running the course looking for areas to improve. We have since added a second jump made from old racing fuel cans. The course is wearing in nicely and is getting to be quite fast as we learn the lines. Here are a couple videos and a few pictures of the progress.

Iwant to work where you work, Ivan! The most fun Ihave is Burrito Thursday. So, you are quick responders, too?

Furion 6 is up for sale on HFand RR.

Water heater went out... leaking slowly. IRCHAmay be in jeopardy. It's only 10 years old. Film at 11.
