Have you guys seen the quad copter balancing the stick and tossing it to another quad copter yet? It is just crazy what these things can do now!!
ETH does a lot of interesting things with multirotors. At the moment, it's all inside using motion capture. But it's still fun to watch.

phD-
I assume the blades are balanced? She looked very good in the video.
Like Chuck said, it needs a 4 blade head. Go Hughes, or go home!

Chuck-
Don't let it stop!
the swamper looks like fun, even on that cold sandy beach by your house.

Thinking about getting [link=http://www.aerosimrc.com/j/index.php/en]AeroSim[/link] for their FPV and multirotor options (also looks to have a pretty good training program).
Other than that, nothing else new.

Phil,

I love your videos!

The only thing I heard in the video that might have been off is what sounds like a slightly bent tail hub. Now, I may be wrong as sin with that. I chased a vibration for over a year.

Och Dave ouch("you hurt me shrek") said donkey to shrek. I see on yahoo seemingly a hughes blew a deer to safety.

Scotty That sound is resonance in the fuse tail between the support points. It was worse in the first build before the crash. It eased up greatly since I dropped the throttle curve away fron the 3D head speed(maybe higher speed accentuating the bent hub) Ahh now remebering I cut a piece at the top to allow the flybar to pass freely.. down wash may be howling dow that hole.. I hear the sound...thanks I'm gonna block it. I already have the piece that was to go there that I never put on. Also it would be unfortunate for a bent hub, the wholething is new... well except for the electronics....dampners, bearings, hub, output shaft etc and does still does not mean the hub ain't bent-sigh. I'll put on the 550 blades(500mm is on there now) and see what happens. But I really checked out this bird good..6 weeks to rebuild.

Scotty please tell Dave to go away with the 4 bladed head.

Phil - what little I've read about multiblade rotors, I did NOT see anything about using a FBL controller.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong!

I went to the dome last night (no Ivan). It was pretty crowded, esp the 3 guys doing 3D all over the place on either side of me & didn't seem to want to take turns! Several near misses.

I kept mine pretty much in front of myself. I did keep the mCP X nose in for over 3 minutes straight - I even was breathing during most of that time. As long as I kept myself from thinking I did OK. I got the 300X nose in 5 or 6 times but only a 2 to 6 seconds at a time. It felt more sensitive than the cp X. I might kick up the expo next time & see if that helps.

The only issue with multi-blade rotor heads and FBLis phasing. Be certain that your FBLunit has an adjustment to correct for phasing issues. Beast X, Vbar, and several others have this adjustment.

It's good to hear about Ivan. I'm sure he's having fun!

Chuck-
Nice on the nose-in. I neeeeeed to get back on the sticks. I should be able to soon, class is almost over (one more test next week, and then the final, and then the real test).

Thanks for the update on Ivan. It looks like he posted a video of him messing around with the nano in the motor home.

Scott - so you need an FBL controller w/ multi blade rotors? BUMMER

Dave - this stupid forum wouldn't let me upload the pic of the 5 bladed head I'm trying to get Pjilly to use. Shhh don't tell him! Good deal on being almost there w/ gnd school. I've been busy looking for new digs & haven't played w/ the Kindle much.

Heading down south this week to look for a new homestead. Going to try the great state of Tennessee (I think that's enough N's & S's!). Of course the biggest snow storm of the season will dump 10" of snow across IL & IN which is what I have to drive the length of to get to TN! Sigh..

The new Garmin won't be of much help with snow! LOL

I think so, Chuck.

My wife loves TN. I'll be driving through it in a little under two weeks for a fun-fly in AL. Should be fun unless Ihave to go alone.

Phil - I can't help it, I think that 5 blader is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. I can't imagine trying to track 5 blades & that's gotta' be a lotsa' torque needed to spin all that stuff!

It's still snowing but supposed to stop by midnight. I hope they get the roads cleared tonight so I can get outta' town in the morn.

That's some scrary stuff right there, Phil. I can't imagine five blades... ugh! I saw a guy at IRCHAflying three blades and doing 3D... word is that may be the wave of the future, but Idunno... relying on electronic phasing for such things gives me the willies.

Throw up coolness... man, you are the man, Phil!

Alive and kicking here still. Just really busy at work. Headed to Texas again on Wed morning for about a week.

Still waiting on the house. Still no decision but supposedly it is in "management's" hands. In one week it will be 6 months since they cashed my earnest money check. It is hard to imagine sucking so bad at your job that you can't complete something like the sale of a house in that amount of time. I believe the entire housing industry is a complete joke. It is really no wonder they destroyed the economy the way they did.

I back from the beautiful South - it was 70°F Sunday when we left! Sigh...

Thanks, Phil. They were very nice 5 headers! I forgot you were doing the bigger bird (not 450). I imagine the spool down time would be in the hours!

Scott - any trips in the new camper yet?

Dave - go fly!

Hi Ivan - cripes if you wait much longer I'll have moved before you & I haven't found a house yet! LOL

D@mn if that KDS 450 FBL isn't on sale again this month!!! If not mods how about more????

Ok Guys
I found a flying site. If the rain falls it is a pond and takes a while to dry. Hopefully I can get some footage from there when I got back from Guyana(get a newPassport)in 8 days time.

I went to buy the KDS 450 SD FBL heli & it is out of stock. I asked when they'd get more, one to two months, maybe...

Which one, Scott?

Went to the dome & there more helis than planes tonight. The 4 or 5 heli guys next to me were all hot shot 3D'ers. Very distracting & their mothers never taught them about taking turns. Almost got creamed more than once. I was there less than an hour.

However, during one of the few lulls, I put up the 300X & got it nose in for 5 or 6 seconds under control & even moved it a bit. With the mCP X nose in, I'm moving it around more & more. Starting to click.

I was even doing some Baurwin 8's. sloppy on the ends but I was actually getting the nose around & flying back towards myself in the middle.

Umm... Rush... Seriously, if you're in the market for a solid, all around 450, I think the T-Rex450 pro is about the best choiceparts are everywhere and if mine is any indication, it can take whatever you throw at it. Mine has been crashed so many times it's sick but the frames are original.

Good deal on the Baurwin 8'sexcited? I was when Ifirst started them. Man, I miss Eddie. Seems as if he's dropped off the radar entirely these days. Iwonder what he's up to?
