Sounds like a helluva radio, Dave. I hate it when they go independent, too! But it does sound like a great little radio. Have you seen the Jeti radio? Huge, but very programmable. "I'd like to teach the world to sing..."
Phil... you may preside, my friend. And yeah, post a picture of your new model. We need to get some life in here!

I've been really busy doing nothing! For some reason I'm not getting notified of posts so I thought you all were gone...
I did manage to snap the wing of my new 800mm T-28 into pieces after hitting a tree on it's maiden flight! The glue is still drying...
Since I haven't been able to get over to Ivan's, I decided to order a replacement servo for the 300X & while searching a good price I found they sell replacement cases! On ebay I found a servo taken off a new 400 & the case both w/ shipping for less than the price of a new one! It's installed but not tested as the wind has ben nasty here the last couple of days.

I fixed the 300x & decided to go try it out & had this wave of panic run over my whole brain! Really weird. I forced myself to go out any way just to see if it would get off the ground & hover. I got it up, moved over the grass & it started to act "funny" I paniced hit the kill switch & slammed it into the ground. I finally have enough skills to keep it upright & the SuperSkids saved the heli. I got back up & gently moved it around for 4 minutes. Whew... I started breathing again.
Took my ole' Cub J-3 out for a spin. What a floater! It made three revolutions around the field w/o power & it lost hardly any altitude. I had a ruff landing & broke a prop (no spare of course) but the lawn care service showed up at that point so I couldn't fly any more any way.
It is summer here - no spring again! 80's the last couple of days. Way better than -13° F any day!

Phil, you and Chuck should come to IRCHA! I'll buy the steaks! Dunno if Ivan is coming this year, yet. I hope so. It'd be good to see him and you two! I haven't done any flying in the last couple of weeks. Ryan Sams from my team was invited to XFC, so I need to keep my Rush intact so he can have a third spare, if needed. This will be my first XFC--granted, as a spectator, primarily but still it should be fun!

Say the word, Cap'n Phil!
How's the knee Scott? Thanks for the invite but not sure I'll have time depending when it is?
Still haven't glued all the bits back on the T-28...
Looks like they start digging in my sand this week & we accepted an offer for our house here. Look out FL here I come!

You got that right sir Chuck...
It is only the jet in terms of the fixed wing aircraft can push some wind, we'll see how it does the north east trades

Phil,
The 1st pic looks like lunch on the "hoof" but I didn't see any helis in the 2nd one! LOL
I took my bike over to the LHS this morning & there was a note on the door that said they were closed after 67 years of service! Bummer, there is nothing else around here.

This is a collar county of Chicago w/ more than 7,000,000 people - you'd think we could support a hobby shop or two!
Not into lobsters myself, I prefer land based critters. I always wanted to go up in a little "cub"-type plane! Did you get to ride in it?
Scott, good to hear about the ole' knee!

I'd like to teach the world to fly, in perfect harmony (between planks and whirrly-birds)... Wait sounds like a coke commercial.
Chuck-
Oh noes! Glad you pushed threw and flew the 300x
Scott-
Enjoy XFC, tell us all 'bout it.
Glad to hear the knees is getting better.
phD-
Nice looking sticks!
Nice plane hop!
The new batteries for the hexacopter @ work had EC5 connectors. After looking them over, I decided to switch all my Dean's to EC5 (higher current capacity, no need for shrink tube to cover the terminals, etc.). Took me a little while to get the soldering down right. Had a couple of 10 gauge wires pull out of the connectors. Luckily, I was swapping batteries while the bird was on the ground.
Oh, and these new batteries? 16,000 mAh 4S Lipos (yes, that many zeros!)

The company that makes the Heavy Lift Octo has a video out where they were lifting 12lbs payload for 15 minutes (using a 6s version of that battery).

Wow you guys are still here!!!! I'm impressed! I haven't flown a single rotor in over 3 years now and am finally going to clear out all the equipment I have. If you guys are interested drop me a line. 2 CX500's one new in box, 2 Gaui 255's One new in box, 3 Gaui 200's and a whack of parts for all 3 birds, plus batteries, plus servo's, plus gyro's and all my old parts boxes with a mix of stuff. Hope all is well.
