Nice little plank! When you going to just buy some foam and build your own?

Nice fish! It's too small to be the big ***** fish..., but it still could have dragged down your new plank. Thanks for keeping the airways safe.

Congrats on the electricity credit. That's always nice.

Like you, I barely touch Phoenix, so no, I haven't looked at the others (well, I do use AeroSim @ work when I get the time). But watching the vids on training did get be back on the sticks. So the past week I've done ~30 mins of sim time. That's about 30mins more then I did last year, so that's a good start.

Finished the quad for the high school. I must say for ~$20, I'm very impressed with the MWC Flip 1.5 controller.
Took the Octo out for spin at work, and was trying a 10 lbs payload. I could just get it off the ground with 98% throttle on a 4S battery. That wasn't safe, so I brought it back down. Now, with a 6S, it took off without a problem at 55% throttle (typical of what the octo does w/o a payload). And with the 16,000mAh battery (it's a brick!), I should be able to stay up with 10lbs for 10mins.

The lil' plank is a blast in the very small gym - circles, figure 8's, touch & goes...

I'm trying to 10 mins a day on the sim - 5 heli, 5 plank but... Good to hear you're flying even on the sim. I looked at that training program & I doubt I'd have the discipline to follow it through!

I can't imagine what a 6S, 16,000 mAh battery would look like! I'll have to find one on line. YIKES! I'll say it's a brick. 10#s for 10 minutes, there's gotta' be some formula that could use those specs to tell us something interesting.

2nd electric bill is a $75 credit! Of course, as soon as it gets hot & humid around here the A/C goes on & I use up those credits. I just hope I can break even! Net Zero!

Always nice to have fun with your hobby
Came across this on my wandering... looks fun and durable:
http://www.slowbipe.com/

Good work with the sim. I was away on travel last week, but I'm going to hit the sim again this weekend.

Yeah, the 6S 16,000 is a beast! 4.5 pounds of battery. With the load, the gross take-off weight (GTOW) was 21 pounds.
I was also able to fly with only 1 pound for 15 minutes with aggressive flights (multiple passes at 55+ mph, wanted to see what it could do ).

I'm sure if you don't break even this year w/ your electric bill, you will in the following ones.

phD- Well hurry up and hurry on back!

Not much else to add just yet.

Wow looks like the site changed the presentation. Thanks for the encouragement. That stick plank I built had not had any air under its wings yet. That is really sad. Best wishes Sir super Dave and chuckyfeller. I will keep around. sir Chuck you thought you were running from cold air..seems it followed you.

I moved my EXI450 from the 5i to the 7s & never got over to Ivan's for a double check. I went to the Marion County Cloud Climbers on SUnday & was talking to the resident heli expert. He flies ones almost big enough to sit on! And he does a mean auto rotation from about 200 feet up!

I asked to take a look at the heli & he found my problem (it spooled up "funny"). One of the servos needed to be reversed. I don't know how long I spent futzing w/ it on the bench & still missed that! SIGH... He also found a small crack on the tail arm.

It flew like a champ!

However, he noticed a very interesting thing - the Normal pitch curve was 40, 45, 50, 75, 100% but the servos traveled linear up and down. I rebound it to the 6i which had the same curve & it did the same thing! I have no idea why it doesn't follow the pitch curve??? Any ides??

He also suggested that I changed the blade pitch at mid stick to +2° to tame it down some. Not sure I'll do that or not. Of course, when I went to fire up the electronic pitch gauge it was dead & new batteries did NOT revive it. It's always something...

Replaced the part, reset the tail & gyro & fired it up in the drive - success! Flies like it always did.

The flying field is all grass & I damaged the tail gears in the FBL heli when the tail blades touched the grass! I asked the club to provid a pad for launching & landing small helis & they agreed!

Next I need to get them to add a runway for my way to small planks to take off in the grass! I'm not a big fan of hand launches.

Bro Chuckhow linear is it.. Full +/- 10 degrees? Is it the dx6i? Check the monitor window and move the sticks and see the movement. The radio is some times the problem. I know people who had to get the radio serviced..that's a start. God bless your heart

Philly - it was both a 6i & 7s & it turns out to be a stupid human at the controls! The Tx was in TH & we were trying to monitor NORM so of course, the values wouldn't change to NORM 'cuz it's in TH! DUH!!! Thanks for the info though...

I found out by trying the same thing on the mCPx & moved it out of TH & went to NORM while holding the heli & of course, it changed just like it was supposed to. SIGH...

Looks like the ice will be broken Saturday coming. Maybe the stick plane that never flew and the spitfire will get a spin and get home in one piece

On reasearch found that the rechargeable batteries in my TX is not holding charge. hat is the first in the start up program. I soon find out what is the status of the aircraft batteries. I do charge them periodically and discharge then and put them to storage charge. We'll se what Im getting away with.

I had to send the 7s back for repairs. The damn trim switch broke which is why I bought 'cuz I got tired of replacing them on the 6i! Except they won't let me replace it on the 7s - it's gotta go back to the factory. REALLY!!!!! ***

Unfortunately, nobody at the filed could take a decent vid so I can't show you all the stuff I did w/ the Pandora as a low wing trainer. I had about 12 packs on it as a high wing trainer. Great aeroplane!

BTW, I have now successfully flown all 6 of my airplanes including the 2 that were unflyable (small Corsair & mini T-28).

I've been flying the mcpx's indoors twice a week for months now as well as offering sage advice to my fellow fliers. Several of who have advanced quite nicely in spite of their ages (84 & 87)! I think it's time I start getting back to helis a little more now that I'm more comfy w/ the airplanes.

Good to hear from you, El Capitan! Can I assume both flights ended well? May the Force continue to provide you with the opportunities to continue flying.

I'm afraid I got side tracked by greed. I'm taking golf lessons 'cuz I have coupons for 50 free rounds & I hate to waste them. Not transferable. Neighbor gave me some clubs not a full set though.

Looks like I won't get back to flying planks until mid August.

Did take the 300 for a spin last week in the gym but those ceilings are awful low so I was extremely cautious.

Right on Sir Chuck both 450 helis all still working.. Well the day 450 had five of the six magnets loose in the motor.. Dunno if that damaged the esc, but I had to change both. Now I trying to decide what to fly next week..night Cessna, or Hughes 500E. Stick with me pal I'll be looking for you in FL
