just ordered a stingray ep from aeroworks. balsa built [ don't like foam] nice looking aerobatic plane. 1000 kv ammo going in. along with a 2200mah 3-s 25c li-po and 30 amp esp with nano 16 0z ef servos and a 9x6 prop to start. should be good little flyer at 25 oz. anybody got one ? thanks............GEETER

Hey Geeter, I've built two of them, I think that the stingray is one of the best pattern type parkflyer being offered in a ARF today. The one modification that I made to mine was to add twin air scoops to the top of the fuselage to aid in better cooling of the motor. I lost my first one due to a overheated ESC. I hope that you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed flying mine.

hey jim, thanks for the reply and the pics. getting mine tommrow. good looking plane and the best part is it's balsa and ply, not foam.......junk. i have a ep reactor by great planes. kms 950 kv motor,36 castle esp, 2200 mah 3-s 25c li-po,and love it. i'll remember the scoop for air. i did the same thing in my reactor,except i put holes in the cowl cheeks they look cool too. thanks again,i will enjoy it i'm sure...........GEETER

Hey Geeter, let us know how you like your StingRay after you have flown it awhile. Have you ever tried a EPP foam plane? They are almost indestructible and easy to repair if you do manage to tear the foam. I have a Hyperion Sniper3D EPP foam plane that has hundreds of flights on it and the only thing I've managed to break is the wheel pants. Here's some photo's of me flying it at the lake on floats.

yeah, i don't want to sound ....one -way about foam planes. there are a few good ones. i'm just partial to balsa and ply i guess. i had a t-38 hobbyzone trojan, which i liked. i sold it still in one piece after twenty flights. a friend wanted it bad, but were sold out in the stores. i think it was epp or depron foam. i just don't like foam and will buy a balsa plane even if more money over a foam one. read my thread about foam planes.........about three threads before this one. i just blowing off steam, just like i hate mds engines. there are alot of neg,threads on the forum. a guy wrote one on electric planes. he bought a lancair gp electric. brushed motor,ni-cad battery [heavy] 8 cell pack. he said it wouldn't get off the ground. a 90.00 complete plane with everything,except the right stuff. i said convert to brushless, li-po battery, brushless esc and you'll see a world of difference. more money to spend on something he already bought and thought was good. i said the only thing that is good is the lancair plane itself. the rest is junk, in todays flying. now he thinks all ep's are junk, we know better don't we. thanks for the tip,i may change my mind and somday get one. i'm kinda on the downside anyway. after six months and many flights,i crashed my giant super sportster last week. no fault of mine, just went in. xyz 50 cc gas engine, spektrum dx6i radio, smoke system, the best futaba mg servos. cost me, plane and motor ruined. sold the rest. about 900.00 gone. oh well thats flying......[][][][][][].....GEETER

going with a bigger motor now. the rimfire 28-30-950 didn't get it for me. putting in a e-flight bl-10 i bought. that will make her talk to me. a 450 watt motor .only needs a 300 watt. we'll see...................GEETER

geeter, now you're talking, I have a Hyperion G-2220-10 400 watt motor running a APC 9x7.5e prop in mine and it is ballistic.

I'm considering picking up one of these as a "trunk" plane. What motor from HobbyCity would you guys recommend? I've got some Turnigy 4s 2250 batteries I'd like to use with it.

Fits fine - but haven't flown it yet.
If you buy this you will need mounting screws for the motor as it doesn't come with any.  Believe 2.5 mm will do for two, then 3mm for the other two - don't quote me though - had to dig through the bottom of my parts box.

For air scoops, you can use plastic spoons. Just cut them to the size you need. I had one of these until the DX7 went into failsafe mode. Unfortunately, I had programmed the failsafe incorrectly and the plane got a burst of full power at the wrong time. Anyway, very sweet little plane.
