Graupner Zlin Z-50LX ARF
It looks like the famous Czech Zlin 50 airplane will be available in early 2004. Graupner is producing this 950 mm (approx. 38 inch) wingspan classic aerobatic flyer with ailerons. It will be refreshing to see the clean lines of this aeromodel come back for the the electric crowd. This can be seen at their website: www.graupner.de. It will be designed around a speed 400 motor. And like all other Graupner products, it should make a great flying model.

This is an update on the previous forum. Hobby Lobby won't be importing this kit. They will special order these kits for $143 plus $7.95 shipping. I won't know the availability of these kits until I receive the kits I've ordered. Stay tuned for more info as I receive it.

Update time. I've learned that the kits that I ordered, have made it to the USA. So these kits are available and are being shipped by Graupner. As soon as I can, I'll take some photos of the contents. Probably next week sometime. I've added this photo to give you an idea of how the contents of this kit looks like. The wings are side mount plug in type, everything else is straight forward.

I've started this kit, but I have since moved to another house, which had brought this project to a stand still for several months. I've added some trim colors to match the WILD THING Zlin 50. The motor will be a Hacker B20 18L+4:1. I'm currently setting up 3 different electric models to have flying by this fall, so the Zlin project is coming along slower than anticipated. When I have it completed and flying, I'll update this post with more photos and flying info, so stay tuned....

Hi,
I wonder if a 3s1p Konion pack would fit into this plane.
The battery exchange is from the underside?
The size of the 3s1p Konion pack = 3.7cm wide / 3.5 high / 7cm long
1.46" wide / 1.38" high / 2.76 long
How is the quality bye the way of this Graupner pack?
Thanx,
Rob
Ps. my Typhoon-15/10 would fit very nice is this plane.

I'm back. The dimensions that you gave me should work with little or no modifying the battery compartment. Of course until you know where the battery has to be located for proper CG, there could be some modification. The quality of this kit is very good. The only issue I've come across is if you want to change the color scheme. The covering doesn't want to take another covering on top of it very well. I've had to spot glue the added covering in places. So I didn't get as good of results as anticipated. Here is the latest picture of the Zlin's progress.

Hi,
Thanx for the reply.
[8D] Cooool your color scheme! Looks very good.
very tempting this plane.
With the Typhoon-15 and Konion 3s1p I would save about 70gram of weight.
Of course the question is how the CG will be.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi,
Anymore about your Zlin, I bought one and I'm going to build it, with a hacker B20 18L and 3s1p with a gear 4:1. Can you tell me some instructions about, what propeller? etc...
Thanks and good flights,
Luis

Hi there. I never finished mine. I have a Hacker B20 18L 4:1 also, but I never installed it. It went into a Wattage Super Impress. I will get around to it before summertime. I just have too many gas and elect. projects and some just don't get into the air as fast. If you get yours airborne, please update me on how it flies. Thanks, Kurt.
