Here's my mount for the Himax 2816-0890. It will tear through the firewall and the frame behind it without sustaining damage. At least the first one I made did... Anyway, I think the ply is 3/32". Any thinner and I think the shaft collar on the back of the motor would rub against the cross brace under the stick. 5 minute epoxy throughout, total time to make is five to ten minutes if you're slow like me. Don't forget to true the leading edge of the stick.

The first one still flies but it's getting kind of heavy with all the wood, glue and covering I've added. :P

Hi, I've printed your set up for your motor that you use and the way you did it. I'm buying one and installing a PJS 3D 1200 brushless outrunner on it. It has 42 ounces of torque and I wanted to know what you think about that. When you offset the moter for right thrust are you shiming the motor to make up for the thrust? The motor would be mounted in the center of your mount and on the stick but shimmed? Please e-mail me with your thoughts. I did'nt understand some of your instructions as far as the 1/8 inch to the left of your mount I think it was. Please help me in any way that you can. Will the out runner motor work as far as you know? I'm not sure if the motor you used is an out runner or if just the motor shaft itself spins. Thanks for your input. Please e-mail me with your thoughts. [email protected]. Thanks again.

I'm running the e-flite 920kv outrunner, 12amps over 8000rpm with a gws10x6 hyper drive prop. MF is faster then the geared version but not very fast vertical! Makes a great sport plane. But not a great for 3d! I'm going to try a apc 10x4.5 and see how it works.

Has anyone tried an Eflite Park 400 Outrunner in this plane. How does it perform? I'm not looking for 3D, just normal aerobatics. I have this motor and am thinking it might be satisfactory.

Test flew mine today with a Eflight 370 and 1147. Accidently took of on high rates. I was impressed its a great flying little plane.
I definately will get a bigger motor.
1" IS low rates.
You need to put expo in it if you cant fly it on 1"
I dont think this model was intended for a 4 chanel starter radio imho.
I flew its bigger brother right afterwards as a fellow at the site had one and they are very similar.

I flew mine with an Optic 6 Transmitter, and used 30% Aileron Differential, 20% rudder Mix (switchable), and 70% exponential on all surfaces, which really improved the handeling. Low rate settings were really soft, 1/2 inch 0n Ailerons, 1/4 Inch on Elevator, and 1/4 inch on rudder.

HS-56 servos with the Karbonite Gears helped as well. I stripped out one HS-81 Aileron servo early on, and the better gearing seemed to help.

I have a mini and I love it. The only thing bad is the stock gearbox. I have to Eflight 400 bruchless on it but would love a different and more reliable gearbox. Can anyone give me some ideas? Thanks
