*Shipping A Plane*
 

I'm looking for some information and pics on shipping a small plane (Precision Aerobatics Addition X). This plane has already been built. I'm not going to build a wooden crate so has anyone ever shipped a plane in a cardboard box like the ones a new ARF is shipped in? I'm considering shipping my plane if I can find a pretty good, cheap, and fairly safe way.

Good , cheap, and safe do not go together.well. Good and cheap usually ends up with a busted plane.
If the buyer wants it they should understand the risks and be willing to pay for a proper "crate". That is the only way other than luck to make sure it arrives in one piece. Any other way you are setting yourself up for dealing with refunds and insurance claims.

Yeah it's a miracle anything makes it unscathed in a cardboard box anymore. It's so hit or miss with the way packages get handled, so you need to package for the worst case scenario. And why a lot of folks don't want to ship built planes. Last plane I shipped, a built 60 size trainer, cost me nearly 300 bucks to ship. More then the darn plane cost, but I wanted it to arrive unscathed.
I built a wood frame, double walled it with cardboard inside the frame. Plane/wing/tx were all suspended inside the box, then I dumped 8 large bags of packing peanuts in and around them.

Darn thing was like coffin. And of course ended up too large for USPS or UPS to ship so it went freight. Never again.
