Brushless setup for GP Mini Super Sportster

Hi,

Can anyone give me some recommendations on a brushless setup for the Mini Super Sportster?
I've looked at some Himax outrunners and inrunners but I'm not sure how I would mount it.
Any ideas, pics would be great!

I just ordered this plane, should have it tomorrow or Monday. I had a Kyosho Spree Sport which was a similar plane is span and weight. I think the MiniSportster is the replacement for the Spree since Tower showed Kyosho the door. Anyway, the motor I had in the Spree, and will use in the Super Sportster is the MP Jet 25/35-20. It flew good on a 3 cell lipo 2100mah battery.

Thanks for the reply! Let me know how it flies when you get it up and running.
I've never seen anyone run an MP Jet.

I'm torn between the Sportster or a GWS Zero, brushless for both. I think I can get the Sportster for $65 at my LHS, which is a deal!
I'm leaning towards the Sportster, just have to rig up a motor mount.

Wattman, that's what I was looking for, thanks! How does she fly with that setup?

And what's on the prop shaft? Is that an extension? Sorry, I'm new.
And could that have fit the stock gearbox?

I hope it's made better than the 48" version. My MP Jet BL should fit right in the stock clamshell mount, hope the offset of the gearboxes isn't a lot. I also fly a GWS Zero with a Himax 2015/4100 brushless motor. This motor fits right in the stock gearbox. Flies good with a 3 cell/1200mah lipo.

AeroCat , it flew very well . I had a elevator servo sieze/lockup in a power dive , that plane was totaled . My #2 Mini is flying really well .
That is part of the prop adapter that comes with the motor [ retains the prop on the motor shaft ]
I do not think it would fit the stock gearbox because of motor shaft size .
I really like my Sportster :D

Hey AeroCat check this thread out reference the Mini.............:D

Thanks for the link Wattman!
GWR, which plane do you like flying better, the Mini or Zero?

Just got back from the LHS which had my MiniSuper Sportster; They ordered it Tuesday. Opening the box it looks good. I should have it ready in a few days; I'll post some photos of my motor. All my GWS Zeros have flown great. This is my second; lost the first in a midair.:(

Would the Himax 2025-2700 work well as an outrunner? It's cheaper, $53 and doesn't require such a high ESC. But power rating is 175, is that enough?

Would the 2815-2000 work better as an outrunner than the 1400? The Himax site recommends the 2000 or 3000 for Direct Drive aplications. But the 2000 has a higher ESC rating of 25A. And I'm guessing a 25A ESC wouldn't cover that, depending on prop sizes.

The HC 3510-1100 also looks very nice and powerful.

Just so many options and confusing numbering I'm kinda lost.

Also, has anyone used the GP Electrifly Brushless ESC's? They're alot cheaper. $40 for a 25A. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKSY4&P=0

I'll be using a TP 13C 1320mah 3s Lipo. 17A continuous, 27A burst. Let me know if any of those motors needs are too high for that battery.

Here's a pic of the MP Jet mounted in the MSS. I had to rotate the motor on the gearbox so the wires were placed in a better position to go through the firewall. I also had to grind some of the firewall to make the hole bigger for the wires. A few wraps of electrical tape and the motor fits the stock mount perfect.

Hey Wattman, how does that look with the cowling?

Also what motor is that? I'lld like very much to find a direct bolt in after the joy of having to fab a mount for my EP kadet today, as I'm considering this as my next plane.

What amperage ESC are you runnning? I have a spare 25 amp laying around the house like the one I have in my kadet, all I would have to do is get the motor(might try to find one of the turborix(ebay) motors that equivelant, do you have an od on that motor?).
