Always female.....so that there are no exposed male ends to be accidentally shorted out. Rich

I remember reading on here about a guy that bought a bunch of stuff at a RC swap meat and he had a bucket of batteries in his car for a few days before he looked at them and 2 had Male ends on them!

Yes on a Deans use the female on the battery and other types of connectors you shield the positive wire and leave the negative exposed.

Hmm, seems to me it's alway best to "sheild" or cover both the negative and positive battery leads. I believe that's why the manufacture includes both black and red covers for the connections. Beside providing extra strenght (not a lot) it prevents exposure to the elements so no corresion tahes place.

yeah, female on battery and dont cut both wires at same time (it sucks) you may do it once in a hurry and not paying attention, but you wont likely doit again

Yep and by the way, tht's pretty good practice with house wiring, too! (Don't ask...)

Bullet connectors do not have exposed metal contact areas and are safer.

No bullets on Deans connectors, they are flat, female end on battery side. Bullets go on the motor wires. Female on the ESC.

When u go with 5s 5000 or higher battery packs for motors that can draw 80 A or so, need 4mm bullets to sustain these Amps. Deans can go 60amps if I remember correctly.
