I remember reading on here about a guy that bought a bunch of stuff at a RC swap meat and he had a bucket of batteries in his car for a few days before he looked at them and 2 had Male ends on them!
Yes on a Deans use the female on the battery and other types of connectors you shield the positive wire and leave the negative exposed.

Hmm, seems to me it's alway best to "sheild" or cover both the negative and positive battery leads. I believe that's why the manufacture includes both black and red covers for the connections. Beside providing extra strenght (not a lot) it prevents exposure to the elements so no corresion tahes place.

yeah, female on battery and dont cut both wires at same time (it sucks) you may do it once in a hurry and not paying attention, but you wont likely doit again
