E-Flite Mini Funtana Undercarriage
I have an E-Flite Mini Funtana which has been sitting in the box untouched for a few years. I've now decided to put it together but I've read numerous reports that the undercarriage is a weak point of the design. Rather than having to repair it when it fails I'm thinking about what mods I can do as it goes together to minimise the chance of it failing. My thought is to use a wire u/c (if I can find, or perhaps make one) as this would have some flex.
I would be keen to know what solutions others have used.

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana Undercarriage
On most of my smaller ARF's I beef up the landing gear area with extra tri-stock and epoxy. Or you can use small strips of basswood/ light ply. I've read where some people use nylon bolts instead of the metal ones on the landing gear so it will break off on a hard landing instead of ripping out the whole bottom. I don't do that on low wing planes because if you use wheel pants there's a possibility of them tearing the covering on the bottom of the wing.
