Default electric power plant recommendation

Hi,

A friend gave me wing and fuselage, it's a trainer, wingspan 1.6m all balsa wood.

I'm putting it together and would like to know what motor size, esc and propellor would be suitable for this plane size?

Batteries are going to be lipo 3s.

Also, I assuming that this plane size would use standard size servos?, is this correct?

Anyone has a similar plane that I can base the above info off?

Thanks for any help.

Andrew

Default RE: electric power plant recommendation

Take a look in the electric training forum for "Everything you wanted to know about electric flight".  One of the chapters will explain how to size motors.

But, in general, you do this by watts per pound.   75 to 100 is usually a good working range for sport flying.

then look at the gound clearence, if you are going to take off from the ground.    subract 1" and look for a motor that takes that size prop on a 3S pack.

Make sure your 3S pack can deliver enough power to feed the motor in order to handle that plane.

It is all described in the book.
