Default Controlling the speed

I was looking at the Sig Rascal ARF Electric 49" and wondering can the speed of the engine be controlled with the radio? If it requires 2 servos - 1 for the rudder and 1 for the elevator - how would you control the speed?

Forgive my stupid question - I'm a newby.

You use a device called an Electronic Speed Control or ESC which plugs in to the radio in place of the throttle servo on an IC plane.

I assume you mean that it plugs in to the receiver in the throttle slot?? (to replace that servo)

Yes that is the idea. It replaces the throttle servo.

Be sure to purchase a speed controller that will handle the motor you have. Such as a speed 400 would require a 10 amp where as a car motor would require a 30 amp. These are round figures.

Pgesler, FYI....if you're going to get the ARF Rascal, you will be getting the motor and the correct size ESC along with the plane.
I bought one of those last Nov. and it's a fun plane to fly, when you're just lazying around. It was my first ARF I've ever bought, and it went together easily. I've always scratch built all my other planes. Good Luck!! Jim
