Default Large foam chuck glider- RC conversion

I just found an old post about a foam chuck glider (54"). I want to build one as a very simple RC conversion, for a friend. I tried to find a new one, but I guess they do not make this model, anymore. I did find other big foam gliders, but I do not know which one would be the best, for future RC conversions. The final product would be an electric motor-glider, intended for slope soaring and flatland thermals. The Airhog's Titan looks okay, but it's kinda small, and the wings are swept back more than I want. I know this project has been done before, so any advice on which model does best, will be welcome here.

The posts I found about this conversion are old, so the sources (and even the planes) may not be valid now. The big box stores do not carry any of the big foam gliders, here.

About the best way to find a seller for anything on the Internet is to search with the UPC number code (it is written in the UPC barcode space), instead of words. If anybody has recommendations for big foam gliders, the UPC number code would be very helpful for this search.

Thanks for any help,
Red

Lnewqban,

Thanks.

I did find the Tower glider, but the others were a bunch of busted links, or "get it at WallyWorld." WallyWorld doesn't even have it on their web page, but who even knows what keywords they list it under.

UPC number codes let you search everywhere at once.

ElectricFlyGuy,

Thanks.
TRU had no clue, maybe because it's still snow season here.
WallyWorld said to come back in a few months (at least they knew the product), so I guess it's a sesonal thing here.
I settled on a few of this version (with $5 shipping), for now:

Still, all recommendations are welcome, here. That Tower plane may not be the best, in this department.

I have converted many of the 80 and 100 cm versions into rc. We fly the 80cm version indoors as full contact combat planes. Best bang for the buck.

Kurt,

Thanks. Those planes are kinda small, and the goal here is a motor-glider, to power-up and fly in thermals, or slope soaring. I'm hoping to use a
folding prop, or a fold-away motor pylon on this glider.

The guy this project is intended for, would not engage in RC combat flying, even if his flyin' friends did. We are both hang glider pilots, and
these planes will keep our heads in the air, even when conditions would not sustain personal flight. I know if I can keep an RC sloper 200'
above launch, then I can keep my HG at least 50' above launch, while searching to find better lift. If you launch a HG too early in the day,
though, all you get will be a nice flight to the bottom of the hill (a sled-ride).

MajorTomski,

I looked on their web page, and did not find anything but little toys. The local Hobby Lobby store is mostly just crafts and cloth.

Got a SKU #? The UPC number would be even better help, here.

Thanks,
Red

MajorTomski,

Thanks. That's the unit I ordered from Tower Hobbies, but I have not seen it yet. Hopefully, it will make a good starting point.

Are there any other foam (glider) planes, maybe as good or better? I want this gift to look easy, but still be the best I might give. If I got him a
Tuff Planes U2 DragonLady, I know he'd like it, but he wouldn't take it (just "too much" gift).

Cheers

There used to be a foamie Boeing 757 looking kit about the same size as the one above but I haven't seen one in a while I think you're stuck with what you've go.
