Default Double Horse 9053 Helicopter

Doesa anyone have any experence with the Double Horse chopper. I received one for my birthday, and it seems to fly pretty well indoors, but it is also advertised as an outdoor model also. Trying to fly this thing out side is almost inpossible as it will not respond to the forward command. Can any one give me any insight to this model, are there mods that can be done tomake it more responsive to the forward and backward commands????? Any information will be appreicated. Thanks.

Check the battery position, you may have it too far aft. The tail rotor on this bird is what makes it "pitch" forward for forward flight. Does the tail rotor spin when you move the stick forward?

Jerry
Thanks for your response. I have checked the position of the battery and it seems it will only go in one position. Also, yes the tail rotor does spin when giving the command to fly forward or backwards, just seems the tail rotor does not have enough power to push it forward when out side. I saw one review that suggested the tail rotor blade be enlarged, but don't know if the tail rotor motor is strong enough to handle a larger blade. Any thoughts on this??? Thanks again for response.

My first suggestion would be moving the battery slightly forward to help the tail rotor be more effective. This would affect the ability to pitch back, but should help you get a little more foward mobility. I don't think changing the rotor blade will help much unless you upgrade the motor as well, butchanging one or bothwould be an inexpensive experiement. Ultimately, this bird is better suited to indoor flight unless there is no wind at all. If you really want to do a lot of outdoor flying, I would buy a Blade 450 or something similar that can handle a little wind.

9053 is not really suitable for outdoor flight - however you can make mods to assist

Add counter weight (a coin for example) to inside noise cone stops the backwards tendancy during take off
trial & error to find sweet spot works

Tail rotor blades are too small - replace with Sky King #8500 rotor blades, you'll need to "trim" clearance on rear 9053-19 Balance stabilizer too

Replace metal 9053-01 Balance bar with plastic one from Double Horse Balance Bar 9060-01

Upgrade battery to 2200mAh

Grab several parts cos ya guna need them with running repairs

Yup,9053 is not very suitable for outdoor flying ,while you can replace the tail rotor blades with other heli parts,
That will be very intersting,Even though it will be very hard to success,But process intersting.
V911 heli is a goog bird for flying in the wind for its light ,stability, and flexibility, but it's a little difficult to control in the first time, especially, adjusting the trims right.
A high speed bird.I think this is better than other helis,
