Default Help with system choice

I hope you guys can help me I am new to electrics,I have a foam 1/12scale JDB aerotech mustang all ready to go but I would like to put a electric motor in it .The question is what size do I use do I go with gear reduction I donot know.I want to hand launch the plane (no landing gear),I allso do not want the thing to be a slug .Is there some one that sells a complete system .Any help would be great. If I wanted to gas I would just slap a .20 on the nose ,but I would like to try my hand in electrics to see how I like it .

If you go to rcgroups and do a seach you will find several different setups for this plane. I am doing a Sureflite 40 sized P-40 with a Endoplasma, GD600 gear box running 4.6:1 8 to 10 cell 2400mah nicd pack. THe motor is $19.99, gear box, $12.99. On ten cells it will almost hover a 3.5 pound plane. The problem is that with the high number of cells will burn up the motor in around 20-25 flights.

I think your plane is a little small for this setup, but there is a good setup out there for you.

Dru.
