How Much Voltage Can Can A Hobbico Starter Take?
I have several Hobbico 12V starters.
They do not have a lot of power to turn over larger 120 four strokers.
I am thinking of running 5 or 6 cell, 18.5 volt or 22.2 volt Lipo batteries to power them.
Will this work? Will I get lots of power?
I am not real concerned if it damages the starter.
What do you guys think?

This thread shows that 18 volts have been used with no bad consequences:

I have been running 2, 3cell lipo batteries in series for couple of years. works great. so far no problems with the Hobbico starter.
just be sure that you have a good grip on starter when you crank her up. It turns rather robustly. It cranks myt DLE 35 like snot!
