Dangerous incident happen to me today …
Its start with faulty rudder and end up with fire!
Today was the day for the maiden flight of my GP EXTRA 330S 27%, before enter in the taxiway I test the control for aileron, elevator and rudder, I found out the rudder is reversed, I go to the control menu in my transmitter to reverse the rudder, once I did the plane go full power to the weather column cutting my right wing into half, prop touch the ground for few seconds then stopped, smoke start right away, I disarm the plane, at first I thought the lipo is the source of smoke but I found out that the ESC is the problem.
When the prop touched the ground while the engine in full power its pot tremendous amp load on the ESC.
I did a little investigation for what happen; I found out that I reverse the throttle by mistake (duhh!) If I kept the pane in the robe this incident wont happen, and a $330+ will be saved.

The real problem was NO preflight check . This should have been BEFORE the plane was on the runway and in a restraint.
This was your fault - not a faulty rudder.
One more thing , reversing servo direction while the engine is running on the runway ? Really ?
And you reversed the throttle instead ?
This question answers itself.
The SO ( safety Officer) at my club would have be having a serious chat with you.

Gene, I am newly single. So I bought a 3BR bachelor pad right between work and the flying field (10min either way). It is a bit of a fixer-upper, so I am getting a new kitchen and bathroom, and I'm putting in new floors and taking care of last 10 years of neglect. The house has good bones, and is going to look sharp when it's done. Unfortunately it is getting in the way of my flying, so I need to get my priorities in order and move toward setting up the airplane shop.

You should NEVER make changes like that when the plane is running, or with the motor armed.
WHAT IF THAT FLAG POLE WAS SOMEONE'S LEG?!?!

Not something to joke about with that size electric. AnyBODY in the way could have been seriously hurt. Your plane runs away full tilt, you have no idea why because you had no idea you reversed the wrong servo so chances are you wouldn't have been able to throttle it down before or after hitting someone.
Nothing faulty here with the plane just the thinking of the pilot.
Be extra, extra, careful next time and either disarm the motor ,take the prop off, or use a 4.8v flight pack to power the receiver to test the planes controls.
Next time you and/or someone else may not be lucky.

Looking to the positive, no one got hurt. Good luck if you decide to repair your plane or move on to another.
