Default NiMH battery packs and NiCD chargers

I'm trying to resurrect my old Hitec radio and need new Tx/Rx packs.

Since the new NiMH packs will be different capacities than the older NiCD packs, is it okay to use the charger that came with the radio, since it's not a fast charger?

On a similar note, Ihave an older Hobbico Accu-cycle charger, no differentiation between the NiXX's. As long as I keep the charge rate at/near 1/10C, am Iokay?

Thanks

Default RE: NiMH battery packs and NiCD chargers

Small wallwart type chargers will work OK with NiMh as will the older Accucycle. The newer chargers that can charge at higher amperage is when you will damage NiMh packs from over amping/heating. Of course you can "cook" NiMh packs with a wallwart charger if you leave it connected for days!
