I am just starting to build a Sig Senior that I found on the shelf at my local shop.
There seems to be quite a bit of discussion on what motor to convert it with for electric flight.
I am looking at this motor at the moment http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._46_glow_.html

But some are telling me that I really need a 60 class to get the job done?

Well if you went with a Tacon 60, 6s 5500mah battery, 60 ESC, 16x8 APC E prop, you will have 9.5 pounds plus of thrust at 775 watts. I use this setup in a low wing trainer that does duty as a glider tug. You can go larger on the prop to get more out of it. This setup gives plenty of power plus long, long flight times.

I did two launches plus flew almost 20 minutes doing touch and goes and just cruising around flight.

I also have the Tacon 46 I run with a 5s 4500mah battery 13X6 APC prop. It puts out it puts out 7 pounds of thrust at 700 watts. So if you want to cruise around the 46 on 5s would do it. A lot would depend on the final weight of the plane.

I used a Great Planes RimFire .46 on this plane -- it flys it well on a 5,000mah 6-cell. I'm sure the 60 would be fine too. Plan on a large battery mounted as far forward as possible or be prepared to add dead weight. I built a battery box to slide the battery in from the bottom of the cowl. Previous power was an OS46AX with nearly a pound of lead in the nose to balance. It flew well then, too. Best of luck with your conversion!
