Default Electric Motor Break In

I Have a new Graupner 480 6 voly motor. Should this motor be broken in under water like I have seen discribed in some forums. Or is it just best to use it.

Thanks,
JBoss

I don't have any experience with that motor, but it couldn't hurt to break it in. Generally on good motors you get an increase in motor life and a slight increase in power, though the difference may be unnoticable with this motor.

You could do it in water (preferrably distilled) but an easier solution would be to hook it up to 2 D batteries and break it in just on the lower voltage outside of water. Make sure your rotating in the right direction too.

Do you need to break in Brushless motors? I know when you break in a brushed motor you're wearing the brushes but what about a brushless?

uh, unless Grauper have very quickly changed their factorys, the S480 is a carbon brushed motor, not a brushless.

You can check out the water motor breakin described in my Unicorn Building thread. I did it to 2 zagi brushed pusher motors. One for the Unicorn and one for the Sky Scooter.

Go here and scroll down a few posts.
