Cobalt 400 Motor
Can anyone help me? My Cobalt super 400 electric motor shuts off at maximum throttle. I have a Wattage I-550 speed control with a 9.6 v 8 cell battery. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you may be dropping too many volts at full throttle and going below the minimum for the BEC. Just a guess. Don't know how you have the motor propped or if this is with a new charge on the battery? The only other thing it could be is excessive current draw but it is rated at 35amp continous or 60amp peak so that shouldn't be the case. Call Wattage or e-mail them and ask the question.

I had the same problem with a speed 300 motor and it turned out to be that it was just trying to draw more amps thant the speed controler would let it , I changed for a better esc and all was well. An easy way to find out is to try and use a smaller prop and bench test it , if it still does it then I don't know, if it dissapears with the smaller prop, then all you need is a esc with a higher Amp ratting and you can go back to the larger prop. Also try a larger battery, in other words use a C instead of an A, this might let you draw more amps at once.
