Default Brushless question

Would a mega 16/15/4 do well on a plane that a 16/15/7 is recommended?

I Want to get the 16/15/4 for my XE2 in the future, and I wonder if it will be ok for the Trick 800 (NSP)

A mega 16/15/7 is recommended for it...

if it works I can have both planes without getting another motor for 150 bucks...

Thanks for the help!

You'll need to gear it, and make sure you batteries are up to the task of delivery over 20A. Much more power in the 4 turn, which can deliver about 250 watts if set up correctly where as the 7 turn is limited to about 150 watts

The Kv on those two motors are quite different. The /7 is for turning BIG props fairly slowly but with a lot of torque/thrust while the /4 is a much hotter wind for turning small props VERY quickly. They aren't really interchangeable unless you follow killerair's advice and gear them appropriately but then you lose the Mega advantage of not normally needing to use a gearbox (and you have the cost of the gearbox which probably goes a fair way towards a second Mega anyway!)

I got a Mega 16/15/4 on a Slinger and it's pulling 40 Amps, It whistles when it flies by, really FAST, scary for some people. I haven't clocked it but I would say close to 80 mph. I would tell you to get the 7 turn, they are 2 totally different powerplants even though they look the same.
