Radio Inteferance from ESC or Motors?
Hi i have a twinjet with two 480 motors that came with 3 capacitors for each motor but in the picture only showed one on each motor so that is the way i soldered them up, when i came to range check the plane starts glitchin after only 7 or 8 steps away with the tx aerial down i dont think this is adequate range. Do i need to take the motors out and solder on the exrtra capacitors if so where do i solder them are there any other things i can do to reduce inteferance as this is my first electric model thanks in advance Lee.
P.S Someone suggested wrapping the ESC in tin foil has anyone tried this?

RE: Radio Inteferance from ESC or Motors?
The instruction text should have detailed the placement of the capacitors. One from each motor terminal to the outside of the motor's case, and one in between the two terminals. Soldering to the motor case can be a pain; just make sure you roughen the spot you plan on soldering to with some sandpaper, and use a heavy-duty soldering iron with a large tip. Soldering guns and wimpy 25-Watt pencil irons don't have enough thermal mass, and the cold motor case sucks all the heat right out of them as soon as you make contact. A big tip holds enough heat energy to quickly heat up the motor case.
IMHO, you may as well wrap your head in tinfoil for the good it'll do you I don't think tinfoil has EVER had any effect on interference. Try rearranging your components, putting the receiver as far away from the ESC as possible. Check all your connections and make sure they're solid and well-soldered.
