Default GCRCC Electric Non-Event

I am copying an e-mail sent out by club member Jim Ryan, to get in on all the forums I can.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Mike

From Jim Ryan:
Guys, here's a copy of the invite that I've sent out. A similar announcement was made on the E Zone website. Best guess is that we'll haev 20 to 30 pilots, including luminaries such as Keith Shaw, one of the pioneers of electric flight, especially for electric giant scale.

Message Follows:
What: Summer in Cincinnati Electric Non-Event
When: Saturday, August 24, from 9AM to 5PM.
Where: GCRCC Field, Woodsdale Power Plant: http://www.gcrcc.net/site_map.shtml
Why: Hey, why not?

The title says it all. My E-flying buddies are scattered all over the country, and this was one of those years in which we could never seem to be in the same place at the same time.

Frustrated, we consulted our calendars and decided that late August would be a good time to get together here in Cincinnati. Out of this, the Summer in Cincinnati Electric Non-Event (SCENE) was born.

The concept was shamelessly pirated from Azarr, who dreamed up this format the year KRC was cancelled. A "non-event" is just like it sounds; no contests, no schedule, no impound, no entry fee. We will provide a frequency board, a self-service cooler full of cold drinks, and a very nice airfield, complete with nicely mowed grass and a lovely 400' paved runway. We'll probably pass the hat and order pizza when we get hungry. Packing picnic baskets is also fine. The rest is up to you fellows.

The non-event will be held at the GCRCC field at Woodsdale power plant. The members of this primarily IC-powered club generously - and unanimously - voted to close down the field for electric power only on August 24. They also agreed to waive normal membership requirements but proof of AMA membership is required. This gives us a first-class flying venue, with shelter house, parking, etc. GCRCC's website is here: http://www.gcrcc.net/

The "co-sponsor" of the event is our VOA Flyers electric club. You can see info on VOA here: http://www.voaflyers.org/

Guys, I don't want to over-sell this. We are literally just some guys getting together to fly for a day and enjoy each other's company. Because some of these guys are traveling quite a distance to see us, we just figured we'd throw open the door and invite all comers. I have no idea whether we'll do this again, as the impetus for the event was simply to find an excuse to fly with some great friends.

Because we have no earthly idea how many people to expect, I would ask that you drop me an e-mail if you plan to attend. A rough head count for now is fine, and we can firm things up as we get close to the event. Hope to see you there.
