Default Electric project help

Hi all

I need a little advice and education from the electric gurus. My girlfriends daughter has a school project to create a flight model. So she asked me for help, I fly nitro and GS planes with no electric background but thought it might be fun to aid her in making a simple indoor electric (besides I can play with it afterwards). We decided on a Nutta for a base design concept (and if I change the wing back to stock I can have some fun). We decided to change the wing to a slightly larger wing with dehidral for slow flight, get rid of ailerons and add a rudder. I would like to lock the elevator so power change cotrols climb, and I can add the elevator control back later. A few questions about equipment. Figured I would use a GWS IPS C geared motor with either a Pixie 7 or a Kokam 9a ESC with a 700 2 cell Lipo. Some hitec sub micro servos and for her use my old car radio for the 2 channel control. Is this about right for a functional cheap set up? I was wondering what is used for control horns on the surfaces and what is used for linkages, and is packing tape the common hinge material? Is CA the normal gule to use for ply or balsa to the carbon boom? What is the concenus for the amount of deidral to make this thing nice and stable with just a rudder?

Any advice, changes, or comments are appreciated.

Mat
