My husband wants to put the micro 010 brushless direct drive motor on his "ultrafly extra 300s. It came with a 4oo motor firestone gearbox...NOT brushless.

There's more to it than just sticking a brushless motor on the plane, unfortunately. Improving performance is all about applying more power to the air.

The direct drive Astro 010, when combined with the right battery, is a very efficient and powerful motor in its own right. But, even at its best power output it can't produce as much thrust as a geared 400 motor. Notice the geared 400 is spinning an 8" or 9" prop. The direct drive Astro is spinning a 5" prop. It's best suited for very small, very light planes.

If you want a brushless upgrade for a geared 400 motor, the GEARED Astro 020 would be a much better choice.
