I think I found out why my SS sucked so bad....
I finally gave up on flying the SS after a couple mounths of frustration. It just wouldn't fly.
So I went on to build a Mountain Models Magpie and I think I found out why the SS was having problems, lack of power.
I built the Magpie with the recommended 9.6V 650 KAN a GWS 350C-C a Pixie 20 ESC and a 9x7 prop with mini deans connecting it all.
OMG!!! [X(] What a difference in power!!!! I swear I thought the motor/prop was going to take off by itself!
I was using the standard connectors and I think they kept pulling apart because my batteries lasted maybe 45 sec and the whole thing would just die.
I'm sure if the SS had that kind of power it would have made a huge difference. I'm not sure if it was a battery issue or the connectors or what but there sure was a major difference in power. I'd bet the SS setup I was running had maybe 1/4 of the power this setup has.
Just goes to show that using inferior parts (battery/connectors) doesn't save you anything in the long run.

RE: I think I found out why my SS sucked so bad....
I too have a SS, I learned on it with the 300c motor then moved up to the 400c and finally am now at a lipo battery with a brushless motor setup and yes, it is quite a bit better. I can now hover, better wind penetration-though it'll never be a strong wind flyer-better menuverability, etc, etc. I do move up to the Deans connectors as well with good success, happy flying and good luck.
