ACE Simple 400 set-up recomendations
Motor-Speed 400 6v
Battery- 7 or 8 cells 600AE, 8 cells 1600 NiMH
Speed Control- Anything 14 to 20 amps
Have fun it's a great plane. Oh and if you want more crash resistance try rubber bands to hold the wing on.
Cheers,
Grant
P.S. Email me for more specifics on brands/ suppliers

Corsair set up
I had the same plane on electric, I put a long can Dymond 400 in it direct drive on 10 cells (600MAH), It was fast as #$%, This is not a good first plane if your not experienced. Keep the rates down it will roll as fast as my 540 Edge when its full throttle.

If you do not have a lot of experience with fast electric planes, I would recommend that you start with a 6x3 prop, a Speed 400 6V motor, and 7 600AE cells. A Speed 400 motor will need an ESC that can handle about 10 AMPS.
Once you get familiar with the flying characteristics of the Simple 400, and it starts to seem that it is a bit slow then you can switch to a 5x5 or 5.25x4.75 for a much faster flying that you will keep you on your toes. I currently fly the Simple 400 with the 5.25x4.75 APC prop, and the motor and batteries I am recommending. I am using the Jeti ESC that handles 10 AMPS.
Enjoy,
Flying Cat

I agree with flying cat. I started with a Speed 400, 7.2V, 8x1100 AAU cells and a Castle creations pixie 14. With that combo, my RTF weight is 1.11 Pounds. Later on changed to speed 400 6V, 5x5 cam prop and that's what really gives you good punch. The best for you would be 6V motor, 6x3 folder prop and start with 7 cells, keep the control throws mild. Here is a picture of mine.

I was running mine on an Astro 020 on a 4.7 x 4.7 on 8 500A cells, and it was rock steady in flight, and crisp as can be on the controls. Very smooth, it was a great intro to Speed400 pylon racers.
Good luck on your flights. Thankfully they don't seem to have any bad habits, and go exactly where you point them.
A great warmup for a Sokol
