Default TT Windstar radio upgrade

ThunderTiger has not replied to my radio upgrade ? so I need some advice. The supplied 2ch system is inadequate--why have a sailplane with no throttle control!! I replaced it with a Futaba 4ch. AM radio & matched receiver, powered with 7cell NiCd, and a GWS 30A ESC. I did retain the Ace #8820 servos as they seemed compatible with Futaba. The motor is a 540 HP and I wonder if my ESC is matched properly as I don't know the amp output of this motor. The original ACE system had a 30A BEC only which has no throttle control. The problem is I can't get a full power range from the motor with my present setup. Where am I going wrong?
