anyone know if replacing the stock gp 2100 nicad battery pack with a gp 2000 nihm pack will result in longer flying times? im not looking for more power just longer flights. thank you.

RE: g.p. super sportster
You MIGHT get longer flight times due to weight savings. On a pure capacity level, the 2000mAH NiMH would have LESS duration than a 2100mAh NiCd. If you fly at the same throttle levels as before, then flight times will actually be shorter.
However, you need to be careful here. Converting from NiCd to NiMH by substituting cells of similar capacities is tricky. Normally you would convert by going with NiMH cells of the same physical size as the NiCds, and take advantage of the increased capacity. In this case, you are substituting a hearty 2100mAh NiMH cell for a much smaller, and potentially much wimpier, 2100mAh NiMH cell. Yes, they have similar capacities, but they don't have the same "punch." The smaller cell is not capable of producing as many Amps as the bigger cell.
This all depends on what "2000mAh NiMH" you selected, and how many Amps the Super Sportster motor draws. 2000mAh AA-size cells like the ones you get at WalMart or Radio Shack, even the ones for R/C cars, can't put out enough Amps. Now, if you're using a 2000mAh A-size cell from a source like www.cheapbatterypacks.com, you've got something. It'll handle the Super Sportster motor no problem.
