lipo to nimh cells number conversion
Hello,
I'm going to upgrade my Het Sniper with a hetrc 2w20. This motor works amazing well with 4s lipo cells. The problem is that I don't want to buy such cells because of there price. I want using GP2000 Nimh Cells. How much cells do I connect to have the same power as with lipos, please? 12, 14, 16?
Thanks
Yannick

You'll also have at least twice the weight, if not 3 times, with Nimhs over Lipos.
I use a 3C2100 Lipo at 6-1/2 oz in place of an 8x2600 Nimh, at 19 oz.

The discharge rate will be average 45 Amps.
For the weight 14 cells of GP2000 are about 500grs and a 4s pq 3700 (to have enough amps) are about 390gr. I will probably test with nimh first because the difference in costis really too important for me.

Just a though, what about 12 CP 2500 cells? 10% more weight than GP.
I imagine you will only be bursting to 45amp for period of around 15 seconds.
I hate trying to put motor/battery combos together. I just try to find what has worked for others.

Because the Lipos will be so much lighter you can afford to lose a volt or two and still get comparable perfomance.
3.7X4 = 14.8 V Lipo
1.2X12 =14.4V NiMh
12 NiMh cells would be roughly equal in power, but the extra weight will make a difference. NiMh will be about 2.5 X the weight at 12 cells. If the motor can take the higher wattage, I would bump it up to at least 13 and probably 14 NiMh cells to account for the extra weight.
