Default Can Motor SIZES?????

I have two can motors, but am having trouble matching them to e-planes in advertisements. Is there a way to MEASURE a can motor to relate it to the GRAUPNER sizes, such as, Speed 400, or S400. These sizes have apparently become the industry standard, but I need to determine what S-size my motors are in order to choose which planes to put them in.

Thanks for any help,

Johnny

Default Can Motor SIZES?????

Steve Lewin and Bill M., Thanks for your answers to my can motor measurement question.

These motors are "made" in CA by what I believe is a one-man shop using Mabuchi motors. The company is called Vista Labs.
The motors below are prefixed VL (manuf.) and suffixed RC, as they already have noise suppression at the motor terminals.

The smaller one is the VL HY-42RC ("equiv. to an 020 fuel engine"):

Overall lg.= 1 5/8" (30.4mm) ----> Speed 300?
Lg. w/o endcaps = (28.8mm) ----> Speed 290?

The larger is the VL HY-42-35RC ("equiv. to twice the above"):

Overall lg. = 1 3/4" (44.0mm) ----> S440? (Surely not)
Lg. w/o encaps = (334mm) ------> S330? (Probably)

Neither of you specified including /excluding the endcaps in these measurements. It appears from the above that the endcaps should NOT be included. Agree? .....Johnny
