Default speed 480 and C-20 ESC. is this trouble waiting to happen?

just got a graupner 480 BB race for my zagi and am wondering how close to smokeing my ESC I am.

the ESC is a electrifly c-20 from great planes.

I will be running it on the standard zagi pack (9.6v 600mah) but I want to upgrade later but dont know if the speed control can take it.

I know a bit about electronics but have always sucked at the theory end of it
by my (quick) calculations I will be running around 19 amps. :spinnyeye

what do you guys think. run it or get a bigger esc.

thanks in advance.

Default Better safe then sorry

I'd just get a new one, you can always use your old esc for another plane.

The battery won't take that kind of abuse (19 Amps).

600mah battery running at 19 amps is going to run less than 2 minutes if it gets a full charge. This is IMHO it may run much less as the bottom half of the battery will not put out full power.

well i need new packs anyway. any suggestions on what to run... I dont plan on going full throttle the whole flight so i dont think i will kill the pack too fast.

what type of pack should I run on.

would the 500ar like from hobby lobby work (part number FK5503)

or should I go for something like the B1100L8

thanks again for the help.

i AM RUNNING A COUPLE OF SAILPLANES ON DIRECT DRIVE 500s.
I pull about 14 amps & by not going full bore I can get 15 to 20 minutes of flight on them. The bigger batterys are heaver but seem to work for me. a 1100 will get you up & lower amperage will extend the flying time
