Default Zagi 400X vs. ViperTwin?

I have had a Zagi Razor for years and it's
getting tired.
I am thinking of bumping up to either the
400X or the Viper Twin recently reviewed
by Marc Vigod here on RCU.

Marc: Have you flown both of these?
Does anyone know personally which one
is the better flyer?

Thanks

Grrr,
What about the Projeti or Mini Speed Wing.
Both of those will crush both planes you mentioned in Speed & Aerobatics.

Get your Viper Twin at www.jetsetairplanes.com
I've flown mine only twice and every time I do a loop I loose control of the plane. The first flight went real well, went into a loop about 300ft. up and when it went inverted, I lost all response. It just spiraled straight into the ground. Good part is, it didn't suffer any damage!! It appeared that the battery wire at the plug had come out where I soldered it. I resoldered it and flew again today and it did exactly the same thing. Went into a loop, went inverted and lost all control response. Funny thing is, I swear the motors were still running when it hit the ground, so I don't know what caused this one. If it wasn't for the motors still running on impact (very mild damage, by the way, fixed it right there), I'd think the velcro holding the battery in was not strong enough to hold back the battery when inverted. I'm going to add a tie wrap to the battery and try it again when the battery recharges. All-in-all, the durability of the Viper is pretty darn good!! Two very hard crashes and only minor damage, repaired on the spot. I built right out of the instruction book. The only thing I probably did different, was to use a bit more paint than recommended. I used Krylon spray paint with more or less two coats and it weighed right in at 35oz. Add some masking tape to the back of the motor bays and battery and a stip along the leading edges of the wing for strength and it'll be fine. Again, the Viper flies very well for me, but I don't think I could have crashed any harder unless I did a full power dive straight into the ground, than the two crashes I just had and the Viper is still in one piece with very minor damage, fixed on the spot. I Love it!

Default Zagi 400X rocks - Brushless!

I did go ahead and get the Zagi 400X.
I ordered a Mega Brushless 16/15/5 with
a Jeti 3P-30 ESC for it and an 8 cell, KR1700aup
pack! I got HS-85 for the elevons.

This puppy is the smoothest little flying wing
in the club! At 1/2 stick, getting 17 minutes
on the pack!

If you want POWER - my buddy has the Zagi Razor
with the aveox 27/13/3 in it, SL-48 ESC and a ten
cell pak! This one is literally 120mph! It rocks!

I love the smooth and somewhat 'slower' 400X!

Just do it...

"I've flown mine only twice and every time I do a loop I loose control of the plane."

Double check your CG.
I tried a lighter battery pack on mine and experienced the same thing. She does not fly good tail heavy.
Otherwise, Mine flys great, the way Marc has it set up with upgrades. Rolls, Loops, Inverted loops, Inverted flight, Slow Flight,
Thermaling on windy days, Fast flight, Aways stable.

Default Zagi 400X vs. ViperTwin?

Hi Dick

I have the Zagi 400 (original) and the mini speedwing. Both will go into the Zagi death spiral if you pull to hard on the elevator. As was already stated make sure balance is OK, the easy on the stick in the loop. It seems enough elevator stalls the wing and "death spiral". This is not uncommon with some other aircraft but the wings are harder to recover from it. I can generally get it back if high enough up when it happens. Oh it seems to be worse when low battery and the wing loses speed (=lift) going over the top. Its also more pronounced in my 48" Zagi then my 24" speedwing. Don't know why Ill leave that for the engineers.

Yes Cg on the Viper twin is important> Before your crash did you have any problems with the receiver? You might get a dual conversion rec. if you dont already have one> iM getting a elctron 6 for my Vt and I dont have the money for a brushless Zagi. I think i'll get a cap 232 after the vt anyways with brushless Li poly setup!
