Probably the same reason all Cellpro packs from 2 to 4S have a 5 wire balance tap, for simplicity, the charger only need one plug to accommodate any pack up to its maximum cell count. In your case one node wire is not used, in my 2S Cellpro packs two of the node connection wires are unused, on a 3S pack one wire is unused.
