alternate source for charging lipos at field
I finally found my limit on car battery for recharging my lipos and had to get a jump start. My field doesnt have electrical hookups for my power supply. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a different way to charge lipos. I guess a small generator would do but was hoping there was a less expensive alternative.
Thanks

An extra car battery or perhaps one of those batteries that come with a carrying handle. I hear there's also batteries that are designed to tolerate deep discharging better than regular car batteries.

You must be charging a lot of larger packs or have a weak car battery. I've never had any problem after my field charging.
After you stop charging, if you wait 10 minutes or so, the car battery may recouperate a little, just enough to get it started.
In general, you might just start up your car every hour or so and let it run 10 minutes or so to top off the battery and to be sure it will still start. I'd still keep the jumper cables handy, though.

You already have a generator, it's your car's alternator. As Jim said, just start up your car for awhile. A guy at my club flies large (120+ size) electrics and he starts up his car every so often while he charges.
