Feeling Stupid
New to electrics. I've read so many articals on motors, batteries, chargers and ESC that I'm completely confused now. I have a AP plane I built that has a weight of 37 oz less battery. The motor I'm using is a BP A2814-6 Brushless Outrunner. The specs are listed below:
No. of Cells: 2 - 3 Li-Poly
7 - 10 NiCd/NiMH
Kv: 1410 RPM/V
Max Efficiency: 80%
Max Efficiency Current: 18 - 30A (>75%)
No Load Current: 2.1A @10V
Resistance: 0.050 ohms
Max Current: 40A for 60S
Max Watts: 440W
Weight: 102.8 g / 3.62 oz
Size: 35 mm x 36 mm
Shaft Diameter: 4mm
Poles: 14
Model Weight: 1000 - 1900 g / 35 - 67 oz
Propeller: Volts (V): Amps (A): Thrust (g/oz): Power (W):
APC 8 x 4 E 11.2 V 22.7 A 1.12 kg / 39.7 oz 254 W
APC 11 x 5.5 E 7.4 V 27.3 A 1.28 kg / 45.3 oz 202 W
The ESC I'm using is a BP 40A brushless. Spec below:
Weight: 26.7 grams / 0.94 oz.
Size: 55 x 24 x 10.5 mm / 2.16 x 0.94 x 0.41 in.
Constant Current: 40A
Max Current: 50A / 10 Sec.
FET: 12
BEC: 3A
TIMING: Auto
PWM: 8K
Input: 2-3 cell Li-Poly or 4-10 Ni-MH
Low-Voltage Cutoff: Auto - 3.0V / cell Li-Poly
0.8V / cell NiCd/NiMH
Having said all that, can someone tell me what battery I should get. I don't have a clue what all those specs mean. I guess my Masters Degree in Art history was a waste.... just don't tell my Dad that. Thanks for any help

RE: Feeling Stupid
Try a 3 cell LiPo 2100mAh with a C rating of at least 16C (33 Amps). Should work with an 8x4E, 8x5E or maybe an 8x6E if the amps don't go too high.
