Is my Motor Temp to High?
I have a Speed 300 motor with a 4.5-1 gearbox, trunning a 7x5 prop. and my temp is 130 F running and 140+ F when the prop stops.
It is being powered by an 8 cell 1800 mAH battery pack.
Is this temp normal, or is it too high?
I also had a bit of arching going on in the motor, is that also normal?
Should I reduce the prop. size, pitch amount, or lower battery count to 7 or 6 cell?
Please Help, I don't want to burn out the motor.
Thanks,
Anem8or.

Brushed can motors can run on the warm side. You need to find the motor maximum current draw data, and then measure with a reliable ammeter, Like a Fluke 73. This is how I do it for my 400 can motors.
Hope this helps. These motors don't last forever - fortunately they are not too expensive!

The speed 300 motors don't like 8 cells, they dont' last long on 8 unless you do a lot of throttle maneagement. At 4.5:1 gear ratio you should be able to run a larger prop, perhaps an 8 x 6 or 9 x 5. Try running 7 cells on those above props.
I used to run 7 x 600 AE's, 5:1 gearbox on a 9 x 6 and 10 x 4.7 prop on my Champion with the Speed 300 and it was an excellent setup. It pulled about 10-11 amps IIRC.
