Astro .020 Brushless
What can anyone tell me about this motor? Is it a drop-in replacement for a Speed 400? Can it be used with a gearbox or is it strictly direct-drive? I appreciate all replies.

Check astroflight's website. I haven't owned one, just leafed through the manual at the LHS. I *think* that direct drive it is marketed as a speed 400 replacement, but there are also geared versions with a different winding. http://www.astroflight.com/

The DD version is a Speed 400 replacement...though geared it should work fine. Depending on whether or not its an older sensored version will determine whether or not you can add a GB to it. If you already own it I suggest calling Astro flight and ask them about the Gearbox.
BTW...as a Speed 400 replacement its a wonderful motor. I loved mine back when I had it. Would have kept it, but I had to finance other projects.
