How long is long distance? The ar6100 can go pretty far as long as there are no obstructions.

The same distance we usually fly with the old JR or Futaba radios.

The AR6100 is for park flyers only, not nitro or gas planes.

You'll get lots of different opinions on the 6100.

I lost signal at about 400 feet on an electric plane, clear line of sight, no airplane parts interfering, lots of charge remaining on my batteries. 400 feet sounds like a lot - until you equate it to something real. That's about the length of an average club flying field's runway.

Tech support said when I called that it's intended for park flyer airplanes but I couldn't get him to state a range. For anything other than a flat foamy that will not be more than a couple of hundred feet away I won't use the 6100.

If range is an issue you'll do well to look at the 6200 or farther up the Spektrum line.

I agree, its a park flyer reciever. Its not so much the range, it has the same as any other Spektrum receiver, but signal shadowing which is eliminiated by the dual receiver configuration of the 6200
