Never flown a small Plane
considering yak 54 with 41" span do they feel like flying a plane or is it wierd, I concerned about the small size but if it is workable would try thanks for your help The smallest I have flown is a 50" wing span, but my field is a drive there are serveral other areas around be that may be too small for a 50" but ok with a 41" just trying to find out if the 41 class feel more "toy like" Thanks

RE: Never flown a small Plane
Small planes can feel very much like larger planes, especially in little to no wind. The main differences that you will see is they get kicked around in wind pretty badly and you won't fly them out as far due to the smaller size (harder to see). One of the best 3D pilots I've seen at my clubs flies 25% and 37% Yaks, but he still likes to fly the snot out of his little 3D foamy on a daily basis. He has to take a trailer to the field to fly the big ones, but can walk out into his back yard to fly his foamy.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with anything above a 40 inch-span.
If you go closer to the 50 inch mark, I don't think you will find much difference at all, except perhaps somewhat lighter.
I fly Eflite's Ultra Stick 25, Diamante 25 and Eratix 25 all in winds up to 15 mph. Not as much fun as on a calm day. I just have to fly them a little faster and hold my breath while landing against the wind.
I also fly Parkzone's Typhoon 2 (39 inches) and their Stryker 27C which I can fly under windy conditions when most gas planes are grounded.
Electrics have come a long way since they were introduced a few years ago.
